What is this whole food freedom thing?
Seems to good to be true. Or maybe even a little scary.
For us a few years ago it was a mix of both. But we were willing to try something different because we hated the way we were feeling around food.
If you are constantly thinking about food? Stressing over food at every meal or social outing?
Worry about calories, what it is going to do to your body? What diet is best to get results?
Fear gaining weight after you eat something? What should I be eating or not eating?
Feel the need to workout after you eat certain things?
We had those same thoughts.
That was us for years.
We understand your struggles.

How to end food obsessions with this simple tip

For years we identified us as girls who struggled with food. Girls who struggled with getting the body, skin and health we wanted.
We turned to food and exercise to cope. To “make” us feel better.
It was short-lived satisfaction.
Eventually, guilt and shame came. Making us feel even more disgusted at ourselves.
So yea, we get it.
We eventually got to a point of a few rock bottoms and decided enough was enough.
We had this little voice inside of us saying life doesn’t have to be this way.
We started to think about and approach food differently.
Slowly. It was baby steps.
But we are so glad we took those baby steps years ago because now we can eat a brownie, eat some ice cream, gluten-filled sugar donut, a wrap at lunch with no struggle.
We are okay.
No change in weight.
No change in skin.
Freaking amazing coming from girls who worried so much about everything they were eating, how many calories was in it and what it was going to do to their bodies.
One key thing that helped us was finding things we could start doing to give us food freedom.
One thing that opened the doors for us to start creating a healthier relationship with our bodies and food was dropping all labels.
We asked ourselves, “Why are we putting a label on ourselves with food? Why can’t we just eat what we want with no rules or labels?”
That completely shifted us in a deep way.
It helped us start losing the shame and guilt with our food choices.
We realized we wanted to FEEL different in our bodies and in our lives.
This again was a step in the right direction as some other “food freedom” ideas seemed too scary back then, but this one we could really get behind to start creating different results for us.
Not only did we identify as the girls who struggled with body and skin but we identified ourselves as the girls who were raw vegans, no-sugar girls, gluten-free/grain-free girls, then paleo girls. Good food. Bad food.
Reality check. How you eat does not defy who you are.
You are who think you are.
Not the food.
Not the way of eating you do.
Taking away food labels was a big stepping stone for us and relived a lot of stress for us.
Not letting our “diet” be our identity helped with ending the food obsessions. We are Lori and Michelle, why does it matter what we ate? We are still worthy no matter what.

We started telling ourselves we are girls who eat food. And food that makes us happy, good and satisfied.
Period. No other story with it.
Dropping all labels… even carb back loaders, keto, etc was a small step forward in our journey to food freedom.
