Running a business from home while trying to raise a family is hard. Not going to lie. But neither one of us would trade any of the tantrums, long periods of crying and lack of sleep for anything. The smiles, the hugs, the giggles, the laughter, more hugs…all of these moments wipe away all the hard stuff.
Interesting though that when we as adults receive something negative, for instance a negative comment or email we tend to remember them more than all the wonderful comments and emails. Funny right?
Each year we get stronger in our mind and with our emotions so we are now able to really handle anything. A lot of this we contribute to how we workout now. They make us feel strong way beyond the workout. You know that moment in a workout when you just feel like giving up but you don’t. You push on. Well this is preparing you for life’s moments. It really comes to how you view things, right? Your attitude, your reaction, your thoughts. It comes to a choice.
This is why we share everything we do here on the blog from the recipes to the workouts to sharing tips to running a blog/online business to family to beauty to mindset self-love spiritual stuff because you need it all. This is nourishing your body. Nourishing your soul. In all parts. Because everything is connected!
We feel we should all enjoy chocolate every day. Who’s with us? It’s good for the soul.

Looks amazing! And thank you for calling it a “treat!” I always think people set themselves up for failure by calling them “cheat meals.” You’re not cheating, you’re treating 🙂
no cheating here 😉
do you ever make anything without plantains/starches….
Yes we have recipes where we use a gluten-free flour blend or other gluten-free flours.
no, I meant without ANY starches…
egg free and plantain free versions of this one? Or just use the 5 ingredient chocolate cake versions and pop some chocolate in there? 🙂 xo
if you follow our egg-free plantain free recipe off this recipe you can just add in the chocolate http://purelytwins.com/2016/09/13/chocolate-cake-made-with-5-ingredients-gluten-and-grain-free-with-egg-free-options/
Abi and I are in! We will post soon!
wahoo!
What size ramekins did y’all use?
We have about 4 in circle ramekins that are about 2 in deep
Looks delicious ladies! I LOVE the melting chocolate on top.
it’s the best – warm chocolate 😉
Does it matter if the plantains are green, yellow or overripe (brown)?
Is any option better than the other?
For this recipe any would do, yellow would be best in our opinion.
I made this with a yellow plantain, but it was quite bitter. I had to cover it with sugar and honey to make it edible. A black plantain might be sweet enough, or next time I’ll add some sweetener. The crumb was amazing for no flour!
BHE, I used 1 plantain and double the rest of the ingredients.
