Sharing the highlights of our family vacation to San Francisco.
Our parents are here visiting and we spent a few days in San Fran then drove down to Monterey for the day. Drove back to SLO yesterday along highway 1. Now we are showing the parents around here – our new home.
Make sure to keep up with us on Instagram. Love how they offer a similar movie format as snapchat.
20 things to do and places to eat in San Francisco for a family vacation
Activities with a toddler:
Check out the Aquarium of the Bay.
Walk around Fishermans Wharf.
See Alcatraz from a distance (we didn’t make it there).
Watch the sea lions at Pier 39.
Ride the street cars. We got a 3 day pass and so worth it.
Walk around the Ferry Building.
Ride the Yerba Buena Garden Carousel and check out the playground.
Walk or drive down (or even ride by it in a cable car) at Lombard Street.
A must do is go to the California Academy of the Sciences. This was such a great place as there was so many things for kids to see and do.
Take a cable car ride.
Just be prepared to wait to ride one.
Madison found a new game – swing grandma’s purse to help pass the time.
Take a family picture with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background… didn’t happen but we tried.
As you saw in the video our hotel had a sky view of the city with a bar, Madison enjoyed drawing and running around up there. Everyone enjoyed some drinks and a few appetizers.
If you are in the downtown area check out the Marriott’s The View. Go right at 4 pm though as it gets packed.
Places to eat in San Francisco:
Waterfront restaurant on pier 7 – beautiful views of the water and great service and food.
The Grove SF – loved the atmosphere and the was spectacular.
Ghirardelli square – a must place to check out because…
Ghirardelli ice cream chocolate shop for ice cream, hot fudge sundae, cookies and hot cocoa.
Madison has so much fun!
Other places we ate while at San Francisco that had great food were:
Perry’s for dinner near the Ferry Building.
Beach Street Grill for breakfast – they offer gluten-free items too.
Fog City by the pier.
After having so much fun in San Francisco we drove down to Monterey for a day to end our vacation.
Cannery row – so many shops and restaurants.
We went to Ghirardelli’s for dessert and got the ice cream salted caramel brownie sundae.
Everything was perfect.
We ended our family trip with an AMAZING breakfast at California Market Restaurant in Carmel Highlands.
After our yummy breakfast we drove down highway 1.
Now that is an experience. The views are breathtaking. Such a STUNNING drive.
We would also like to say Thank You to all the firefighters fighting the fires in Big Sur.
To our Intentionally Built sisters we’ll be sharing a full recap of what we ate inside the club!!
xoxo
