How 2nd pregnancy has been different compared to my first pregnancy so far

by purelytwins

Thank you so much for all the love about our exciting news about being pregnant with baby #2.

So far this second pregnancy has been a little different.

I am already into the second trimester with being almost 19 weeks. Crazy to think that I am almost halfway through it!

Vizsla resting with his owner - pregnant with second child.

Jax loved me hanging out on the couch more during my first trimester.

How has this pregnancy been different so far?

Enjoy the video?

Please share with your pregnant moms as this is a place of love and support.

I know every pregnancy is different, which has been the case for me. I share 12 things that have been different so far in my pregnancy with my second child going into my second trimester. I am 18 weeks pregnant and have diastasis.

How my second pregnancy’s first trimester has been different compared to my first pregnancy

Please note some of things are about how I got pregnant and some about my first trimester being a little different this time around.

It didn’t take long for me to get pregnant again.

Unlike with my first pregnancy where it took several months then turning to clomid to help get me pregnant. This time it happened quickly and naturally!! Guess my body figured out how to do it’s thing this time around.

I got morning sickness around the 5-6 week mark.

It only lasted a good week but that week was tough. I have so much more respect for moms who have morning sickness throughout the entire pregnancy! I was useless for a good week. I didn’t want to move off the couch and no food sounded good to me (which was so weird for me). I had no appetite so getting food down me was hard.  Ever since that week I have overall felt great so again I am grateful. In my first pregnancy I had no morning sickness so this was a new experience for me.

I have noticed more pain in my pelvic area.

I didn’t have any pain or big issues with my last pregnancy.

My boobs aren’t as big.

I don’t feel they are as large as with the first pregnancy but I am happy with having my boobs back.

My weight gain has been up and down so far during this pregnancy.

I don’t keep track of my weight week by week but just going off what the scale at the doctor’s office says. I gained a few pounds at first but at my last appointment I dropped 2 pounds.

My workouts have been completely different since my 12 week mark.

Due to my diastasis from my first pregnancy I have a whole new approach to my fitness during this pregnancy to keep my core strong so hopefully I don’t get a bad separation after this pregnancy (like I did the first time). I will do more posts about what I am doing soon.

I haven’t really been taking weekly belly shots like I did with the first one.

I have taken just a few but honestly I forget with an 18 month running around.  I don’t feel the need to document it weekly but just capturing a few special moments.

I am not stressed over what foods are safe to eat.

For the most part I am eating the same things as I normally do. Overall my food choices and cravings have been the same as when I was pregnant with Madison. I am eating lots of plantain waffles, peanut butter, bacon, desserts and cacao nibs. With this pregnancy, I have noticed myself not stressing or worrying about what I eat (to a point). Like I’ve been eating some fish that are on the no-no list during pregnancy.

I haven’t been stressing or reading every baby book out there.

I am more calm and really I don’t have that much extra time. After having one child I feel more confident in my mother instincts with a second child. I trust myself that I will know what to do.

My belly showed faster.

I already see differences in my belly shape (mainly due to DR). I feel like I am carrying this baby differently than the first.

Sometimes I forget what exact week I am pregnant.

I know this sounds bad but it has happened. I have been focusing on enjoying this pregnancy and not get too caught up on what week I am on.

Time is flying by with this pregnancy.

I know I feel this way because I am chasing a 18 month old around so it makes time go by even faster.  I can’t believe I am almost halfway.

Here are some of the common things I have been eating:

green-plantain-waffles-peanut-butter

Green plantain waffles with peanut butter and sea salt.

Think I had this just about every day first trimester.

plantain-waffles-tahini

More waffles but this time with my other favorites – tahini and cacao nibs.

chocolate-dessert

Enjoyed lots of chocolate desserts.

10 weeks pregnant with second child.

Belly shot of me at the beginning of February – about 10 weeks pregnant

18 weeks pregnant side by side picture from 1st and 2nd pregnancy.

I am not sure how the rest of my second pregnancy is going to go but I am excited and grateful (as you can tell from the video).

Even with my two pregnancies having a few differences already I am enjoying being pregnant again. I wanted to have my children close in age so I feel very blessed to be carrying another little girl.

Mom sleeping during first trimester with second baby.

It was weird for me to sleep so much at the beginning and not feel my best. Madison was a good sport.

Let me know if you have any questions for me.

To all my fellow moms how was your second pregnancy different from your first at the beginning?

xoxo

Can you talk more about how your workouts are different this time around? Are you avoiding certain exercises?

So am I reading this right, your having another little girl? ” I wanted to have my children close in age so I feel very blessed to be carrying another little girl”
If so, that’s very sweet. Regardless of the Gender, a being pregnant and having a child is a blessing and miracle.

Congratulation =0)

Congratulations! That is super exciting! I craved waffles (apples and peaches too) like mad throughout my pregnancy last year 🙂 I never was obsessed with waffles pre-pregnancy but I think I love them for life now 😉

purelytwins September 6, 2016 - 11:29 pm
