Desire glowing clear skin?
We do too. We both suffered from acne...even as adults! Luckily over the years we have tweaked our diet, lifestyle and how we take care of face to get our clear skin. Now our skin is not always 100% clear, but it’s way better than it used to be. We are grateful for the small breakouts we get now. We are very passionate about helping other women get clearer skin and one way is by sharing what has helped us.
The other day on periscope we chatted about why we love using face oils on our face to help control our adult acne.
We know oils aren’t for everyone but they really work for us. We do feel most people would benefit from using some kind of oil on their faces.
We have sensitive acne prone skin and they work amazing.
Why use face oils on your skin to help with acne.
We share our thoughts in the video.
Share your thoughts below in the comments.
What do you wash your face with? Do you struggle with acne?
If you know of anyone who does please share this with them.
We buy our face oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. They are great quality and our skin likes them. *We do have an affiliate with them.
The face oils we personally use:
- coconut oil
What if you don’t want to make your own oils but still want to use them?
Here are the companies and products we recommend for those that don’t want to make their own oil blends. We have no affiliation with any of them.
Herbivore Botanicals facial oil
100 percent pure argan cleanser
Now there are more great skin care brands out there. These are just ones that we came across during our years of getting clear skin. Some of them we’ve used and liked, and others are new and we might try them one day.
Since Michelle has eczema making our oil blend homemade makes it easier for her not to worry if something will irritate her skin.
Do you have any questions? Just start small and see how your skin does.

Facial oils really helped my skin too! I really like Acure Organics<3
Glad you found what works for you 😉
Jojoba and castor oil is my magic combination. Since I can’t use salicylic acid while pregnant, I went back to oil cleansing and my skin looks as good as it does with my normal products. I’m going to see if oil cleansing still works for me as I go through post partum hormonal changes, and hopefully won’t have to switch back! I have really oily skin so castor oil works for me…would probably be too drying for a lot of people.
Those are both great oils, glad they are working for you. They should help post partum as they still help Lori.
Thank you for the update on oil cleanse method!
I have been doing it for 3 months and so far so good.
I am doing Michelle’s mixture and so far so good.
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome!! Keep us posted
What about shea butter just straight up for eczema?
You will have to test it out. I tried shea and didn’t see any results from it.
Have you found anything that does work for eczema?
Are you meaning for your face? Then yes these oils work great for eczema too. You can read all about my eczema journey here http://bit.ly/1baBc2j
I’m so glad to read this! My acne has been OUT OF CONTROL since getting pregnant. I recently starting using Jojoba oil on my breakouts and I really do think it has made everything less angry looking 🙂
Yes jojoba is awesome
What do you use to moisturize after you use the acne-free oil cleansing blend for face wash? Do you use the face wash multiple times a day (if so, how often)? Do you use a make-up remover first, or just the face wash?
We let the oils me a moisturizer. We have used moisturizer called Eminence and liked it. We only wash our face at night. We use coconut oil to remove eye make and witch hazel to remove makeup.
In the instructions for the acne-free oil cleansing blend face wash recipe, it states that you wash away the oils. So, it confuses me that they are used as a moisturizer as well, as I would assume you would need to keep them on for it to work (maybe this is a wrong assumption).
I want something else in my routine to help with acne and acne scars. How would you suggest I add your face wash into my routine? I was thinking I would probably add it between steps 1 and 2. Thoughts?
My current (night-time) routine is as follows:
1. Wash with coconut oil to remove make-up
2. Apply Thayers witch hazel toner and let dry
3. Apply jojoba oil and leave on overnight
Ya it’s a little confusing about the oils as moisturizer. When we wash our faces with these oils and lightly pat dry, there is some oils left on our skin. Sometimes that leftover oil on face is enough, but other times we do end our night with adding more oils to our faces before bed like argan or jojoba. I hope that makes more sense now.
Now for your face wash routine – we would suggest washing your face with our face wash after step 2. That is how we wash our faces – we first use witch hazel then wash face with oils.
Let us know if you have any more questions. xo
One of my friend is also having problems with acne, i am definitely going to share this webpage to here.Nice post purelytwins :).
