Yesterday Madison turned 10 months old.
I know I say this every update but it’s so true: Life is flying by. I can’t get over that she is just 2 months away from turning 1! Yikes!
Madison is very excited to be turning 10 months old.
She is non-stop over here.
It’s true what they say once a baby can crawl life will never be the same. I now see why. Everyday is different.
10 month old update. How life has changed.
Hope you enjoyed the video. Jax joined us again.
Madison doesn’t go back to see the doctor until her one year visit. She is growing and thriving.
She loves exploring new areas of the house. Loves finding new toys. Loves opening and closing drawers. Unloading boxes or bowls full of toys.
Loves being a part of whatever we are doing. She wants to see everything. I love that about her.
A few big things happened over this past month.
She learned how to crawl. She loves her independence.
She is starting to recognize more and more words, people and toys. She is still a little afraid of strangers.
Catch me if you can, Mom.
She has a few favorite toys like this wooden spoon that she loves tapping the floor with to make noise.
Sometimes you don’t need super expensive toys.
How is solid food going? Baby led weaning?
Great. I introduced just a few new things this month into Madison’s diet – watermelon, zucchini and asparagus. She liked them. Zucchini wasn’t a huge hit. She also had some grapefruit yesterday while having some of my green juice. When she had green juice in the past I would wait to juice the grapefruit, but now that she is older I felt she would be okay with the citrus. And so far she has been.
She loves her finger foods. I have been making her homemade coconut yogurt (using coconut cream as the base) and I’m trying to get her to use the spoon to fed yourself. It’s a work in progress.
If you want a more complete list of what she has been eating for solids check out her 9 month update.
She loves being in the kitchen 🙂
How is cloth diapering going?
I am still loving it. See my update on cloth diapering here.
How is breastfeeding going?
Hanging in there. I never thought breastfeeding could be so hard. Lately, I’ve been struggling with good milk supply. It’s been an on and off issue for me recently. I knew once solids foods were introduced my milk supply would get lower, but I was getting really nervous there for a few days. I was barely pumping out of my left breast.
Madison tends to favor the right breast. I’ve been doing a few things with diet to help with supply. It seems to be helping. Love my brewers yeast.
Madison is doing 4 nursings a day and eating solids about 3-4 times a day.
How is sleeping and napping going?
Not so great. I know it’s from her teething. Madison is taking 2 naps but they aren’t as long as previously. Her morning nap is averaging 45 minutes and her second nap is about an hour most days.
She was taking longer naps but then the teeth came. And naps got shorter. Hopefully the teething stops soon so she can get some relief. I don’t like seeing her in so much discomfort.
Overall, Madison has been a trooper with handling teething. She loves sucking on frozen apple slices for relief.
She also has been extra snuggly and wanting to be held.
I miss holding her and snuggling with her so I’m really enjoying those moments.
One toy that has been a great one for distracting her when is she a little fussy is riding her toy elephant. Madison loves this toy.
Thanks for letting me share my journey as a new mom and Madison’s 10 month update.
Now it’s your turn —> What is your go-to for a teething baby? What helped?
When did your kid start standing and walking?

Clove oil is amazing for teething (I use this: http://everydaymindfulliving.com/store/essential-oils/ ). I’ve joked with my midwife that she should hand out a bottle to all new moms. It numbs numbs the gums, and is my go-to for immediate relief, along with frozen washcloths.
I think my older son started walking around 13 months, and my younger son around 11 months. It takes mobility to a whole new level. 😉
Thanks I will give it a try, I have clove oil.
Great! I’d love to hear how it goes. I dilute mine with a bit of coconut oil (try it in your mouth to test it’s strength).
Ahhhhhhh she is adorable! Cannot wait for two more months and then she’ll be one full year old!
Crazy right?
So sweet! I am due with my first baby in 9 days! Been reading your Madison updates and learning a lot about what the next year will bring.
I love the idea of using frozen apple slices for teething– that has to taste better than a frozen plastic toy.
Glad her updates help.
Such a precious tuft of hair growing out now! I can’t wait to see M’s 1 year old birthday cake recipe… I think you should do a smash cake like smitten kitchen but thats just my .02 🙂
Oh yes we plan on doing a smash cake. 🙂
