I must say the last month flew by. Too quickly. I can’t believe my baby girl is 5 months old!!!
This has to be one of my favorite months. I know I know each month will keep getting better as she continues to learn and grow. But I really enjoyed this past month. I loved watching Madison learn and discover new things each day. Each day is a new adventure with her which I love.
Madison turning 5 months old.
We don’t go back for another doctor visit until the end of March for her 6 month checkin. So I don’t know her current weight or height. But she is fitting into 6 month clothing.
Overall Madison is doing amazing. I might be bias (as I think most parents are of their own kids) but she is the cutest.
What Madison is loving:
Loves to stand.
Loves to watch others dance and sing.
Loves being tickled and rubbed on her belly and below neck.
Loves to laugh.
Loves to look at yourself in the mirror.
Loves rolling around to her sides and moving all around in her crib.
Loves making all kinds of sounds.
Loves story time.
Loves holding onto your fingers (and hair).
Her new face of when she is unsure of something.
Does not like:
Getting dressed (sometimes she likes it but at night not a fan).
Getting out of water from bath time.
Having her hair brushed.
Sucking on pacifier during the day, prefers her hands.
Gets bored easily. Likes to be doing different things.
When she is tired she lets you know.
Her hair is starting to grow all over but seems to be falling out in back. My hair is doing better. Not falling out as much any more.
How is cloth diapering going?
Great. I got some new brands that I am loving. I promise I will do an update soon. But things are going well. I am so glad we got over her diaper rash from awhile back.
How is breastfeeding going?
It’s going well. I have no major complaints. No fighting the breast issues. Only thing is she gets distracted while nursing very easily.
She still is nursing 6 times a day total. Gets a 5oz bottle before going to bed.
How is napping going?
Pretty good. Some days are better than others. She is still taking 4 naps. She did take 3 naps on a few days. I feel she is slowly transitioning into a 3 napper instead of 4. Sometimes she naps 45 minutes, but most of the time they are around 30 minutes. I did have a one day where she napped for 2 hours in the morning. I couldn’t believe it. Sadly, that has not repeated itself. Hoping her naps continue to get longer in length.
Excuse the little drool on her shirt. It happens. This is her face in the middle of chatting. Love it.
How is overnight sleeping going?
Going well. She is still sleeping about 10-12 hours at night with one nursing in the middle of the night. That nursing is usually between 3-4 am. There were two nights where she didn’t get wake up to nurse until 5am! I couldn’t believe it. Hopefully that means she is slowly going to wean off that nursing here soon.
Her bedtime routine is still the same that we have been doing for a long time. I highly recommend starting a bedtime routine early, even if you aren’t perfect at it at the beginning. I feel it pays off in the long run. We start the bedtime round at 6pm (nakey time or bath time, lotion her body and massage her a little, put her doterra essential oils on her feet, put PJ and overnight diaper on, bottle, and story time). Put her in the crib usually around 6:30pm or so. Madison usually is sleeping by 7pm. Sometimes it is earlier.
She typically wakes up anywhere between 7am and 7:15am. Some mornings she has slept until 7:30 or 7:40am. And then some mornings she has gotten up before 7am. So… mornings are still a little unpredictable to a point.
She is almost sitting upright all by herself. She enjoys being in her jumper or sitting in her bumbo chair.
Loves grabbing Jax (our vizsla) and starring at him. I love seeing her already forming a bond with him.
Also I feel she is starting to recognize her name. She turns her head when you call her name — most of the time.
I adore her laugh. I love it! I am trying to get it on video so I can share with you but she gets quiet when she sees the camera.
Love it when she grabs and holds onto my finger. She has one strong grip!
I can’t wait for what the next month is going to be like with her. I can’t imagine my life without her. These have been the best 5 months of my life. And to think this is just the start! I love being her mom.
