I am back with another day in the life post. So happy you enjoyed my life with 14 week old baby Madison. It’s crazy how my days change on a daily basis. I used to think my life was different each day but now with a baby it’s completely different.
For example Tuesday was a rough day. Madison was fussy a lot during the day. It was one of those days where nothing was going right. All before noon we had two outfit changes. Madison just couldn’t seem to be happy as she cried all afternoon. But after 4pm she was a different baby. She was smiling and happy all the way until I have to change her into her PJs (she doesn’t like that part for some reason). Yesterday was a much better day. We had a few fussy periods but nothing bad. It was a great day.
A day in the life with a 15 week old baby.
5:30am – I hear Madison making noise in the monitor. I look at the time and have to take a double take! It was 5:30am. This was the first nursing of the night. She usually nurses anywhere from 1:30am-4am. Last night she didn’t wake up until 5:30! Wow!! Although I was up almost every hour during the night putting her paci in.
I got up to nurse her and put her back to bed. I go back to bed.
6am: My alarm goes off. I hit snooze.
6:20am: Second alarm goes off. I lay there until 6:40am. Time for me to workout. I do 100 kettlebell swings. I started to do them a few times a week with light weight as I can’t go too heavy with the weights until my ab separation is healed. After my swings I do some core reconditioning exercises.
I check the monitor and Madison is still sleeping! I take advantage and go jump in the shower to wash hair. I get out of shower and she is still sleeping!
7:30am: Gary leaves for work and sad he didn’t get to see her. I make me warm water as I watch the monitor.
7:45am: I start to hear movement in the monitor. I head upstairs to check on her. And she is awake.
I un-swaddle her and snap a pic. Love seeing this face every morning. I change her diaper but leave her in PJs.
7:54am: I nurse her.
8:05am: We head downstairs to the kitchen for me to have breakfast.
8:17am: As I am making my breakfast I hear Madison making a poopy diaper. Head back upstairs to change her diaper. I decided to go ahead and change her outfit too. She is starting to wear mostly 6M clothing, but I still have a few 3M that she can somewhat still wear.
8:30am: Head back to kitchen to finish breakfast.
Fresh beet green juice, 2 slices of bacon, and coconut oil and large egg coconut cake (2 eggs + 2tbsp coconut flour). Yum. Also had some coffee. Inhale my breakfast and take coffee upstairs as Madison started to get fussy.
8:37am: Back in the nursery playing. Did some tummy time and practiced rolling over. She loves rolling onto her sides all day long.
9am: Started getting tired. Snuggle time and story time with mom. Please excuse the nasty orange-yellow color lighting not the best.
9:10am: Madison in her crib as I clean the nursery, put away cloth diapers, and get her diffuser going. All while Madison is chatting it up in her crib before she falls to sleep.
9:20am: She is sleeping. I go to the computer to check emails and edit a new post partum workout video for the club.
10am: I hear noise on the monitor. She is up.
10:20am: I nurse her.
10:30am: Diaper change. I call Michelle and we have a family video gchat time with Madison.
Play time in her jumper.
Back to nursery for story time before next nap.
11:07am: Starting to get fussy so we just snuggle (I love snuggle time!) and relax before her nap. Then place her in the crib and she is very talkative. Chatting away 🙂 #love
11:30am: She is sleeping.
12:05: I hear noises. She is up. Lunch time for me!
12:15pm: Lunch time. Broccoli bread stuffed with turkey and coconut oil served with our 10 minute pumpkin cookies (I made some changes to make them more 21DSD friendly with no stevia and used the red can gelatin to hold them together better).
12:30pm: Madison getting bored at lunch as we head back upstairs to play.
12:44pm: Time to nurse her but this time she is crying at the breast. I hold her to see if she needs to burp. Nope. Still crying. I try not to panic – why isn’t she eating?? I go change her diaper. Nope. Still crying. I just hold her until she calms down. Eventually she does and I try nursing her again. This time success. She nurses. New mom trial and error when this happens. It’s hard still for me to understand her cries. Tough on mom.
After that we just relax and snuggle more. Listen to some music. Read some princess stories.
1:20pm: She starts to fall to sleep in my arms. I begin to continue to soothe her. She fights going to sleep. Like always. Gets a little fussy.
1:40pm: She calms down and falls asleep.
2:10pm: She is up crying. She always cries at this nap. The hardest nap for me. I hold her as she rest.
3:04pm: She is up. I change diaper. And we play a little.
3:20pm: I nurse her. Gets a little fussy with some gas issues.
More jumper action.
Then we play with some new toys from Christmas.
I grab a quick snack.
4:20pm: Bowel movement diaper. Ahh, that is why she was fussy earlier trying to pass this BM. I go change her diaper.
Head to kitchen. I prep food and Madison watches me. Then we head back upstairs for more story time.
Madison wanted to chat it up again. Love hearing her chat.
Yes I know the pants don’t really match the shirt. But didn’t have any other options.
4:43pm: She starts showing signs she is tired. I hold her for a little bit. Then put her in the crib to take her last nap of the day. She decided to wake up and move all around in the crib. Chatting too. I pick her up and we sit in rocker.
5:10pm: She falls asleep pretty quickly.
5:42pm: She wakes up.
Time to get ready for bed. Start bedtime routine.
6pm: She gets her bottle (my pumped breastmilk), which has her vitamin D and probiotic in it.
6:15pm: Get swaddled. Bedtime story time.
6:35pm: She is sleeping in her crib and down for the night.
I head downstairs to get dinner ready.
Steamed carrots, sautéed greens, kabocha squash, 1 can of anchovies topped with lots of nutritional yeast and tahini.
7:15pm: Sit down to have dinner with Gary. Clean kitchen.
8pm: Start doing work (blog post, editing pictures, editing videos, etc).
10:30pm: I pump. Have another snack (more tahini with cacao nibs). Finish doing cloth diapers laundry.
11pm: Get ready for bed and do some core reconditioning exercises.
11:30pm: In bed.
Another day done and gone. My days go by so fast it’s unreal.
I enjoy being her mom and love days where we snuggle a lot like we did today. #lovetheselittlemoments
Now in regards to work, I only got one project done all day and that was editing and uploading one new video. Rest of the night is when I do majority of my work.
Things are still going well over here. Madison is growing up so fast. I am excited to continue to watch her progress and learn new things this month. It’s hard to believe by the end of this month she will be 4 months old. Crazy!! Another thing that is crazy to think about – is thinking that one full month of 2015 is almost over?!?!
What are you up to for today? Doing anything fun this weekend?
What are yours days like?
