Progress pictures and 3 new products to help heal eczema

by purelytwins

Hey beautiful,

I have seen a little more improvement in my skin and I am sleeping a little better. I still have my itchy outbreaks and moments where I really have to dig deep inside to stay positive, but overall I am doing better. I still have a long journey ahead of me.

In today’s vlog I share 3 products I am trying on my skin topically and progress pictures of my adult eczema.

Click to watch on youtube.

*I bought all these products with my own money. I was not asked to do a review.

The products I mentioned in video that I am using to help my eczema:

Cetaphil RestoraDERM – bought at the local grocery store

I use this when I get out of the shower. My skin seems to like it.

CV skinlabs restorative skin balm – I bought off Amazon

It had great reviews and I thought why not. I haven’t used it that much. I use it as a spot treatment on my driest patches. It is a small bottle so I’m trying to make it last.

SerenaSkin – Lori found this product online

I am just on day 2 of using it and so far my skin seems to be doing okay with it. I hope I will be another success story on their website. I am considering trying some more of their products like the spray.

Overall, I still haven’t found one product that really helps stop the itch when it happens. But the intensity of the itching has gone down. I still have a lot of scars to heal.

I will keep you guys updated!!

Healing hugs to all my fellow eczema sufferers!! Praying for you all.

My spirits are much better most days. I am not itch free or patch free as you saw in the video. But I know God is leading me down my healing path. I have faith I will get my clear skin back. It might take a few more weeks, but I will not give up.

Hey Michelle ~ I’ve got eczema in almost all the same areas as you and the same intensity. I’m really hoping that I’m going through a healing crisis.
Do you think you are going through the same thing?

I also read that this one lady who was an eczema sufferer …she has a huge blog… did this for her intense itching. I personally have not yet tried it. I did the ACV thing…but not mixed with the pepper. However, if I get desperate…I just may try that…

I”I discovered a wonderfully effective and simple external treatment to soothe the itch. It is not a cure, it only soothe and relieve the itch for several hours or a whole day. Believe it or not, cayenne pepper, especially the hottest pepper, habanero, made into a tincture with apple cider vinegar, can do wonders for the most severe itch. When first applied to the itchy spot, it may slightly burn or sting for a few minutes, but within 10 to 15 minutes after the application, I experience a complete relief of the itch along with a deep sense of well being, relief and relaxation. I make the tincture as follows: a handful or two of fresh, dried or powdered habanero peppers in the blender with raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, enough to allow complete pulverization or blending. Pour the mixture into a bottle and shake once a day for a couple of weeks. Can be stored at room temperature indefinitively. Before using on my skin, I dilute the tincture with water, to make an appropriate strength”

One more question!!
Have you tried bone broth??
I’ve been ingesting it for the past month and I find it’s helping me!

All the best!!
Sophie
p.s: I wrote a few weeks ago…and the coal tar ointment isn’t working anymore.
And I’ve stopped all steroid cream because that stopped working too.

Sorry to hear you are suffering like me. Sucks! I have not heard of that remedy for itch. Interesting. Not sure what to think of it haha. I used to eat bone broth last year, but then just stopped. I have thought about adding it back just not sure. HUGS

I know eh?!
Yeah…diggin’ my bone broth…I read it can heal a leaky gut in 3 days!

I personally think you are going through a healing crisis though… do you think so?

p.s: Love your twin blog!!

purelytwins November 21, 2014 - 2:06 pm

Not sure if a healing crisis or not as this has been going on for months. But in a way I guess it could since I am doing an elimination diet. Ya I remember last January enjoying bone broth. Maybe I will try it again. I guess I was not sure if my body likes gelatin or not as that is something I added in last year when I started to get the patches. But it still could be from other things.

Hey, I have known about your blog for a while but just recently came back to it and learned that you deal with eczema. I had no idea! I have been dealing with it for over 4 years now but just recently found online, a method that I think *crossing my fingers* will heal my eczema. Just wondered how yours is doing?

purelytwins February 7, 2015 - 8:34 pm

it has been a battle, but doing good, i will be doing an update on it soon on the blog

I really love how open you are about skin issues because they plague so many people yet people only see glossy skin in magazines and think they’re the only ones with problems – NOT SO! I get REALLY bad skin sometimes and nothing really works, but tis life!

purelytwins November 22, 2014 - 10:14 am

Thanks girl for the support! And you are right this is life.

I am not sure where they ship to but perhaps products similar. I know the lady who makes these products and I get a lot of her customers as my clients and this stuff is really amazing, and so natural and high quality.

It is really inspiring to follow your journey, healing vibes to you of course always!

I’m sure you’ve researched this, but I feel compelled to mention Emu oil. My boys get dry scaly patches and nothing touvches it like emu. I also found a ton of inspiring testimonials with those who have used it. Keep up the positive attitude! You are inspiring

purelytwins November 24, 2014 - 8:08 am

I have tried emu oil earlier this month and it did nothing for my skin. I will keep it around and maybe try it again down the road. thanks for the support 🙂 xo

I was at the drugstore yesterday and the pharmacist spent a lot of time with me talking about excema. I only usually use all natural ingredients, but I was willing to listen to what he had to say. He said that topicals that are very thick and dense and that form a protective layer are the best things for excema. It’s the only way to keep the moisture in. Like Vaseline! He said to at least try it at night, although it wouldn’t work in the day cause its so sticky. He said people get the best results from Vaseline. I may try it, although its got horrible things in it, like petroleum products. I use DermaMed from Whole Foods, as well as Excema Care from Aveeno. They help somewhat. Oh, and Shea butter too my biokinesiologist said. My excema is nothing like yours though, and its only on my hands. Still, thought I’d share what he said. Any kind of skin irritation or rash usually has anger at the core….on a deep level that we’re not even conscious of usually, so I do try to get at it from that angle as well.

Wishing you the best of luck!!!

Hey Girl!
I have eczema very similar to yours – gosh its the worst – I feel your pain!!! One thing thats been a miracle for me is baking soda baths – 1/2 cup. Give it a shot!

purelytwins December 14, 2014 - 3:50 pm

thanks Jessica, sorry to hear you have it too. I used to do baking soda baths, I will have to give it a try again sometime as the first few times I did it I didn’t notice any improvement

Jessica December 14, 2014 - 4:12 pm

Yeah If you’re like me you’ve tried just about everything.. I like to put 1/2 cup olive oil in there too for moisturization. Have you seen a correlation with the Amount of sugar in your diet? I cut all sugar even fruit and that helped.. Stress is a huge factor for me too

purelytwins December 14, 2014 - 9:00 pm

yes I eat very little sugar, I have about half an apple a day and mostly stevia. And oh yes stress is huge for me too!

Kj December 22, 2014 - 1:19 pm

Oh my goodness you poor thing!! I have eczema, too, not as bad as yours but mine has been getting progressively WORSE so I don’t feel like I’m too far from being in your shoes! I hope you find relief very soon! Thanks for sharing your journey and product reviews. HUGS!

Margaret January 7, 2015 - 12:29 am

I want to give you a hug because I know EXACTLY how you feel. I went through the same ordeal a few years ago and my doctor put me on Prednisone. At the time if felt like the only option. Honestly, I have no idea what caused my eczema but suddenly it just healed (leaving terrible scars behind because I scratched myself so badly, thankfully they have almost disappeared now). I remember how embarrassed I was to have anyone see the wounds on my cheeks and I commend you for not hiding. After my rashes went away I discovered a severe nightshade allergy, and since I’ve cut tomatoes :(, potatoes, and peanuts out, I haven’t had another flare up. I also use gold bond lotion on any problem areas and that has worked better than any expensive product I’ve tried. I hope you see relief!

Thank you for being brave and continuously sharing your journey with eczema. I live in a house with two eczema sufferers and it’s torture to watch them scratching all the time, especially when it seems nothing helps. I’m constantly researching natural remedies for my husband and our two-year-old daughter and I’ve finally found something that seems to help and the bonus? It’s all natural!

http://theelliotthomestead.com/2013/12/trying-to-get-rid-of-your-eczema-try-this/

The stuff smells amazing and is very inexpensive to make and best of all, it’s given my loved ones some much-needed relief.

Sorry to hear you have family members that suffer. Thank you for sharing the link.

B February 16, 2015 - 4:44 pm

I highly encourage you to look into Red Skin Syndrome and see if perhaps your eczema is related to that.

Tanya March 13, 2015 - 10:31 am

Have you explored histamine intolerance as a possible cause of your eczema? It has given me a lot of insight into why, even on a healing whole foods diet, my eczema was not getting better (and even worse on paleo and gaps).

Warmly,
Tanya
