I am a proud aunt. I am a proud twin sister.
Seeing my twin sister’s body change during pregnancy and then being there for the birth of her first child are moments I will never forget.
My letter to Madison:
I am your aunt, your mom’s twin sister. You may not understand what a twin is, just know your mom and me are close. REAL close. We have a bond, a friendship that is hard to explain. I will do anything for her and I will do anything for you.
I was there when you were born. Your mom was so strong when she delivered you. You would be proud of her.
The moment I saw you my eyes filled up with tears. I was in awe of your beauty and strength.
I want you to know that you heal me. I am suffering from a skin condition that has brought me a lot of heartache and frustration. But looking at you — you give me HOPE and happiness. You remind me there is good in the world. There is peace in the world.
You have already taught me so much…how to live in the present moment, to not work so much, to sing and dance more, to rest when I need it and that all I need to be happy is eat, sleep and poop. Amen to that 😉 And lots of hugs and cuddles too.
You are already so wise.
You are almost 2 weeks old and these past few days have been the best of my life. Each day is filled with love, happiness, laughter and some frustrating times. Which is part of life. I will do my best to shield you from harm, but I know you are strong and can handle anything.
We have started to make some great memories.
I have held you when you cried. I have changed many dirty diapers. I have read books to you. I have sung to you…which I think you like. I have danced with you. I have stayed up late rocking and swaying you to sleep.
Moments that I wouldn’t change for anything. I know you will not remember these moments but I will, and one day tell you about them.
I cannot wait to play with you and your cousin Joy. I look forward to spoiling you both! We are going to have so much fun.
your auntie Michelle
I am not good with words, but being present when Madison was born is an experience I truly will never forget.
Seeing my twin sister give birth to her little girl was emotional yet amazing . I was SOOOOOO proud of Lori.
My twin sister is a MOM!!!! OMG!! This is crazy. She is not just Lori anymore, but now a mom. A parent. Weird to think about.
I am an aunt again! I remember holding my niece Joy for the first time and felt so much love for someone so small. Now here I am doing it again, but this time it’s a little different. Madison is my twin sister’s little girl and I was present when she entered the world.
I love and adore both my nieces and cannot wait to keep spoiling them both. I was able to be around a little to see my niece Joy grow up. Memories I will cherish forever. And now with Madison I am here at the beginning. I look forward to making more memories with her.
Being an aunt is the best job!
Are you aunt? Do you live near your cousins? Do you live near your family?
