Week 26 pregnancy update and thoughts about nursery dresser.
I’ve decided not to hire maternity photographers at the moment. Michelle says she will take the photos and hopefully my other sister (the graphic artist and photographer) will be able to help edit them. As that is what Michelle and I are not very good at… the editing part of pictures. We can use photoshop to a point. We really just know the main basics. We know we can do so much more with it but never have the time to learn.
More news in the nursery. We got our rocking chair in there – still need foot stool.
Again Jax waiting to see what we were building now.
Rocker all done. And Jax still unsure of the moving chair.
After awhile Jax got really comfy in the baby rocker.
I made sure to find a chair that would fit both of us (Jax and I) in it. It took some research but I eventually found one. Here is the one I purchased.
It was fairly easy to put together and the color is a soft taupe. I wanted it to be more grey but I still like the color overall. I think it fits well in the nursery.
Next was dresser time. The Davinci Jayden 4-drawer dresser in white is what I put on my registry. I adore it. So happy with how it turned out.
This dresser took a little bit of time to figure out how to get started but once we got into it the building process went smooth.
Jax trying to sit on my lap… running out of room for him to 😉
Jax very curious about what is happening.
Almost done with the main piece.
Jax again just watched and relaxed.
By the end he was making himself right at home in the new rocker.
Last thing for dresser was building the drawers. And checking emails.
Finally we had ourselves a complete dresser. And it fits perfectly in the room. Perfect height too.
I love how the baby nursery is coming together. Now I need to order some decorations for the wall.
Apparently Jax was thrilled to have the dresser done too 😉
My dad loves Amazon so we get little gifts in the mail and the other day he got us some cute baby toys. Thanks dad!
I will continue to share updates on latest baby nursery news. Each week is feels more and more real. Love it. Love it all.
PREGNANCY WEEK 26 UPDATE:
Current food cravings?
Nothing different really compared to last week. Overall eating balanced meals has helped me stay calm and strong during this pregnancy. I am lucky to be able to eat the same as I did prior to being pregnant. I haven’t been enjoying much fermented foods lately because they just don’t sound that good. But Michelle and I have been enjoying making fresh juices again. Those are hitting the spot!
My appetite has been strong lately. I do find myself taking extra bites of coconut butter or a nut butter some days. Or chocolate chips 😉
And eating lots of chocolate nut butter chewy cookies. Soooo good. I’ve been ending most of my nights with them.
Here is what I ate yesterday:
I forgot to take a picture of my bulletproof and protein pudding that I enjoyed for breakfast. But nothing too exciting anyways. My other meals were a little more happening.
Lunch (post workout) was fresh figs served with some bacon, broccoli, ghee, coconut oil, sardines, and eggs. Random but hit all my cravings and more!
Dinner was homemade brisket (we buy from US Wellness Meats) that Michelle and I slow cooked over the weekend served with turmeric infused rice with ghee and pumpkin seeds. Topped with sea salt and black pepper. Delicious and filling. And a side of beet carrot romaine ginger juice!!
Dessert was a new recipe that we created and filmed. Click here to get the andes cheesecake recipe! And I had 1 1/2 of these. Perfect way to end a long day for me.
Same issues pretty much as last week. My sleep has been alright as some nights I have really strange dreams that keep me up. But love running my diffuser while I sleep with some breathe and onguard essential oils (see how you get yourself some here at discount). So soothing and helps with my sleep. I try to favor my left side when I sleep but to be honest it’s hard. I catch myself sleeping on my back or right side.
No bloating or swelling and wedding ring is still on.
My emotions are better this week! I am happy about that. I had this urge of happiness come to me this week so I am enjoying it.
Not really. To be honest I don’t really look.
Pretty much the same as last week.
I am having more back pain so looking forward to when I don’t have that issue anymore.
How is your skin?
That large cystic pimple that I had on chin is slowing getting smaller. Yay! I am still using my essential oils which I am really loving lavender, sandalwood and frankcinsence for my scarring and any random pimples. Plus using nerium serum every night has helped so much with my skin’s overall appearance!!
How is digestion?
Digestion is doing well. My bowel movements are good. I have increased my amount of probiotics so has slowed down a little (which can happen when you increase your amount of probiotics).
Total weight gain/loss?
Belly has gotten a little bit bigger so definitely feel I gained some from that. I went to doctor’s yesterday and I have gained about 10lbs total so far. My belly measurement is right on target and blood pressure is great. Michelle and I always have had low blood pressure. Sometimes the nurses are surprised how low.
Overall I am still feeling strong and confident in my changing body even on the bad days.
How’s the baby?
Baby M is about the size of head of lettuce. Another site says weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures 14 inches (about the size of a scallion) from head to heel. Her eyes are starting to open some now. She has eyelashes now too!
I try to talk to her a few times a day. Although I know she hears my voice from doing workout videos and vlogs, as well as
yelling at speaking to Jax.

Week 26 has been great. During the day I have great energy although I see my energy dropping by night time. I seem to be going to bed on the early side than I normally do. I know once I hit the 3rd trimester (which is coming up very soon, crazy) that my energy levels might continue to drop. I know by staying active and eating well I will be able to maintain a healthy pregnancy 🙂 That’s my goal. I feel by me staying strong and healthy is important for my growing baby girl. The goal is healthy baby and healthy mom!
I had another check-up visit yesterday which was supposed to be my glucose drink test day. But I was able to talk to my main doctor at the end of last week to discuss my concerns and options. He was not a fan of trying something natural like orange juice or bananas (boo) so we decided on glucose testing that I will do at home around meal times. I brought Michelle in with me to my appointment as I wanted the moral support for my decision of refusing that drink. The nurse practioner that I saw yesterday did not know that I declined the test so we had a little heated debate. Fun times – NOT! I hate conflict but I also believe in standing up for something I believe in.
The lady really made me feel like a bad person for not doing the test.
Plus she didn’t even act like she cared. All she was there for was to check my belly size (which is growing at the size is should be) and giving me some paperwork. She talked 90 mph. Both Michelle and I could not write down fast enough everything she was saying. After that quick check-up I was off to the lab for them to check my vitamin D level and something else (I can’t remember).
I was so nervous about that appointment and left feeling even more nervous about the next few weeks of pregnancy.
I talked with Michelle about how I am not sure if I still like this doctor’s office or not. I mean so far they have been nice and allowed me to do what I want, but I always feel awkward when I refuse something or say that I want to do things more natural. They look at me as if I am committing a crime or something. Like I am a bad mom or something. The one thing I am disliking about being pregnant- all the test and rules you have to know and follow (for the most part).
And coming up around 36 weeks she mentioned about another test – Group B Streptococcus (GBS). I briefly looked over the paperwork on what it is and the test for it… and again I am nervous about what to do about that test? Any suggestions?
Anyways back to the glucose testing. What I have to do is –> I have to prick my finger before each meal and 2 hours after each meal for a week and record my numbers. The numbers they are looking for is – before eating is 90ng or below and 2 hours after eating numbers should be 120ng or below. I just started and so far my numbers have been under, so I am very pleased. But I do admit I am nervous every time I take the test – praying my results are normal.
What did you do to help with body aches or back aches?
What did you dislike about being pregnant? Does you doctor or nurses understand your concerns or make you feel bad about doing things differently?
I know for the most part these days things have changed when it comes to pregnancy. But I still feel it shouldn’t be complicated or that all these tests or shots, etc are necessary. Maybe I am wrong. But that is my opinion. But it does make me not want to have any more kids as I don’t want to deal with all the drama of pregnancy related things at the doctor’s office. Maybe this is just all from being pregnant for the first time or maybe it’s my personality and I am overthinking things.
For non-moms – What have you been eating that you’ve been enjoying lately?
