Do you ever feel like you eat a pretty clean diet yet you still cannot tolerate a lot of foods?
Well that is one of the biggest mysteries with diet and digestion. Sometimes changing just your diet does not always improve digestion! Taking out foods that you are sensitive to is not always enough.
The focus should be rebuilding the digestive organs. Healing your whole digestive system.
In today’s Purely Talk we share a few things we have tried to fix our digestion. Plus we discuss if they worked or not.
3 things you can start doing to help rebuild your digestive system if you feel like you cannot eat anything.

3 diet tips to help improve digestion:
Tip 1 – avoid your trigger foods so your digestive system can start to rebuild. Start by avoiding the major allergens plus any other foods you notice cause you digestive problems. We noticed avoiding grains and keeping our sugar intake low has helped us with our stomach healing, especially with our acne!
Remember just because a food is healthy doesn’t mean it is healthy for you.
Tip 2 – play around with food combining. Or try to eat simple meals. We are not big on food combining, we just rather keep some of our meals simple. We like having a serving of healthy fat at every meal. We like eating protein with carbs to help slow the release of the carbohydrate. Also, we like to eat very simple meals to help with our digestion. Since we know we are still healing, keeping things simple most of the time has been beneficial.
Food combining is personal preference as you might find a combination that works for you or against you.
Tip 3 – eat more cooked foods as they can be easier to digest. If you like raw foods maybe try juicing or blending meals as smoothies or puddings! We personal have been doing better with more cooked food in our diet. We feel less bloated after eating. Our bowel movements are better. Don’t get us wrong we still LOVE raw foods, we just find we do better when they are juiced or blended up. Cooked foods are highly recommend for those with digestive issues as they are easier for the body to digest. At the moment we agree.
Find your balance of how much cooked vs raw foods your body can handle.
And one last note IF your body can handle fermented foods enjoy them often as they are already predigested making them easy for the body to digest. Also they are a natural source of probiotics, which will help more with fixing your digestion!
If you have a normal or strong digestion we feel you don’t need to worry about these things as much. But for those that are like us and have stomach issues, try some of these ideas and see how you do. We know some people who have removed only gluten from their diet and felt better. But for others we have to dig a little deeper to help with our health problems.

What we have come to conclude after all the articles we’ve read is that when you feel like you cannot eat anything it could be due from damaged metabolism, chronic stress, over use of pills, leaky gut and poor diet. Remember it could take years to heal depending on how damaged is your digestive health.
Remember to document your journey as we are all different! And each person will need different things to heal! Make sure to work with your health professional!
Don’t give up on your healing journey. Each day our bodies are getting stronger and stronger. And your body will too! You’re not alone, we are here to help and encourage you to keep going. Even though Paleo has helped our overall digestion, we have realized we are a tough case. And you may be a tough case too. We might need to do more than just follow a certain diet, like paleo.
