I had my first pregnancy scare on Saturday night. Well, really it was early Sunday morning as it happened around 3am or so and lasted the rest of the night. What happened exactly…? Not really sure. But I was scared. I woke up all of a sudden not feeling well. My stomach felt upset (little nausea) with very sharp pains in my stomach. Felt like that all over. To me, it felt like trapped gas or something.
But the pain was unbearable. Sometimes the pain got so bad it made me feel like I was going to get sick. I was so scared. But I kept telling myself that I am ok, that not to panic or get too stressed. I did my best to breathe deeply. And throughout the night the pain would come and go.
It was the scariest and weirdest thing. I am still unsure of what exactly happened. Was it something I ate, was it gas or was it the baby moving around?? Or is my stomach really starting to grow?? Â Could be a combo of all those things I guess.
Now, I am fine. The pain went away eventually and so far I haven’t experienced any more issues. So that’s good. At my appointment yesterday I did talk to the doctor about what happened and they checked things and everything looks great. I am healthy and baby M is doing amazing!!  Big smiles 🙂
I am doing great besides that one issue. I still have my normal energy levels throughout the day. I am still able to keep up with my daily workouts.
Yesterday was the big day. Â We got to find out the sex of our little baby!!
*sorry for the red looking face as I took these pictures after my workout this past Monday.
pregnancy week 18 update:
Current food cravings?
Chocolate still. Eggs. Bread – plantain bread or coconut flour bread. And starting to crave some ice cream- mainly mint gelato.
Here is what my day looked like yesterday in terms of what I ate–>
Started my morning with cocoa raspberry pancakes. Â Big day, so it deserved a yummy breakfast.
And enjoyed my half-caff bulletproof coffee before getting ready for my doctors appointment.
Think the coffee helped the baby move around for the ultrasound!
After the appointment and my workout I enjoyed some leftover birthday cake that I pulled out of the freezer that morning. As I wanted to celebrate after finding out the sex of the baby! So good!
Along with a turkey mustard plantain bread sandwich with some sauerkraut.
Dinner was a turkey burger, half avocado, sautéed kale, fermented veggies, topped with hemp seeds and turmeric. And a side of coconut flour egg bread (1 egg to 1 tablespoon coconut flour).
And this past week each night I’ve been putting my feet over my head to help with circulation and any future back pain. Â I also rub lemon essential oil on my legs to help with circulation and veins. Â Â I leave my feet above head for about 15 minutes.
Any symptoms?
Overall no issues except that one night of random pain. I have noticed my gums starting to get more tender and a little bloody. Â My sleep has been pretty good again except for Saturday night.
My mood has been good. I have been feeling happy and excited for the most part.
I have no swelling yet. Â Wedding ring is still on. And I am still wearing the same clothes. I haven’t bought any maternity clothes, yet.
No major leg cramps yet. I do find myself moving around more as if I sit in a spot for too long my body starts to ache.
 Stretch marks?
None that I have noticed.
Miss anything?
Nothing. I’ve been enjoying week 18 especially finding out the sex of baby.
How is your skin?Â
My skin is doing better compared to last week when it was struggling. My face still has a few blemishes but most of them are going away. Yay! I do have one large nasty pimple on my lower left side of cheek, right on the jawbone. I am working on getting that one to go away too. I am still dealing with same back acne that just won’t leave!! Frustrating.
My tummy still itches some. And my legs go through periods of itching, mainly on my calves. Nothing too horrible, but annoying at times.
How is digestion?Â
Digestion is normal. I haven’t noticed a huge increase in appetite yet. I have read on some baby sites about your appetite will increase, I still find myself eating the same the majority of the time.
Total weight gain/loss?Â
I got weighed yesterday at the doctors office, it has been 5 weeks since my last appointment and I gained about 1 lb. The doctor said not much weight gained but that will be coming.
 How’s the baby?
Baby M is doing fantastic! Doctor said growing at the rate the baby should be. And all the organs and everything else look perfect. And a great heart beat. Â I am very pleased!!
Baby is about the length of a sweet potato.
Baby is developing yawning and hiccupping skills.  Large enough now for me to feel him twisting, rolling, kicking and punching.
I haven’t felt any movements yet. I know my placenta is in the front so doctor says that gives me some cushion. Probably will feel some baby movements in 3-4 weeks.
Feeling great in my workouts. A highlight of my day. I love being able to feel strong for my growing baby. Strong mom = strong baby 🙂
Now for my pregnancy workouts from last week:
Most days I got up and did my rebounding (I have increased my time to 10 minutes) and some light stretching. Walked most days and doing a new warm-up routine before each day I exercise that we shared in the club.
I am still really enjoying my workouts as I feel they are really helping me with my pregnancy!
Monday – Â did TRX back and arm exercises, KB swings, 20 minute walk
Tuesday- Â filmed new 16 minute plank core purely training workout, KB swings, 20 minute walk
Wednesday – filmed jump rope cardio for club about 20 minute workout, KB swings, 40 minute walk
Thursday- did purely training #46 a leg workout, KB swings, 20 minute walk
Friday- Â did about 15 minute of sprints at the park, KB swings, 45 minute walk
Saturday- 25 minute walked and did KB swings
Sunday- rest day – did nothing
Now for the sex of baby …
Baby M is a
We’re having a baby girl!!!
I am so excited!!
I had a feeling a few weeks ago that I was having a girl!!!
After adding up all your votes from asking last week —> majority of you said boy. Â And all my best friends said boy.
My side of the family was majority boy as we don’t have any boys yet! Gary’s side of family was majority girls as they don’t have any girls yet. So looks like we are adding another girl to the Corso group and finally adding a little girl to the Morris group 🙂
What I am looking forward to?
Planning the nursery and baby shower!!
Let the pinning begin.

AHH SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! Everyone in the blogisphere seems to be having boys haha… congratulations Lori!
Michelle haha I know, so many thought I would be having a boy because of that 😉
Congrats!! I wonder if it was round ligament pain you were feeling? I had a scary night of cramps one time at about the same stage of pregnancy that you’re at. I called my midwife in a panic and she said it was probably the ligaments stretching. It can be quite painful sometimes.
Megan thanks for sharing! The doctors did not give me a reason, but this sounds like it could of been that.
Congratulations!
Thank you Victoria!
Congrats!!! Yay for girls! You are looking so healthy, Lori, and you are a great example of keeping up with fitness throughout your pregnancy. My 86 year old grandma delivered all 4 of her kids without drugs or anything. Actually, she’s against all drugs and is only on one prescription for her asthma. Anyways, she was 105 lbs when she got pregnant with my uncle who was an 11 lb baby and she still birthed him all natural by herself! She said the biggest thing that helped her throughout all of her pregnancies was to stay active the entire time.
Brooke thank you!! That is awesome about your grandma, she sounds like an amazing lady!! xoxo
awwwww, I’m so excited for you Lori!! Congratulations! I am so happy to hear everything is ok. You are looking gorgeous! Hugs to both of you xo
