Earlier this week when Michelle shared her tahini coconut oil snack video on instagram, she was surprised by the reaction she got when she mentioned that she was eating more on her rest day.

Both of us thought that was something interesting to think about as we have read different things regarding how much to eat on workout days and non workout days.

1. Eat less the days you don’t workout.

2. Eat more to recover on rest days.

3. Eat the same amount on rest as you would on training days.

As you can see very different takes. If you GOOGLE these topics you will probably see lots of different articles, research, and opinions on the matter.

Where do we stand?

Not really sure. Like with everything else, it will vary on each person. What your goals are, how hard are you training, etc. In addition it probably is different each rest day too. One thing we notice personally. Some of our days off we have  a HUGE appetite, just like we did this past week. As other rest days we have a little appetite. It just goes to show you that you truly have to listen to YOUR body, not what others say , what a book says, or what a sheet of paper may say. Your body knows best, the key is learning to read it and understand what your body is telling you.

We usually find ourselves eating almost the same on rest days and training days. But again there will be days we eat more or less depending on our schedule and appetite. It varies.

Remember don’t be afraid to eat if you are hungry no matter if you worked out or not. Always listen and honor your body.

I love you ladies — your philosophy on eating it similar to mine. It doesn’t matter what this article or that books says, just eat when you’re hungry. Your body knows best. 🙂

I’m so excited to see your egg-free grain-free banana bread recipe and I’m also intrigued by the protein powder, tahini and coconut oil snack. Do you just it by the spoonful or use it as a topping for stuff?

Thanks Brittany!! It depends, sometimes we eat the snack plain as a sludge, or we have it over things.

you know I agree withyou on the eating! i typically eat the same on rest day… but if it’s the day after leg day i’m ravenous and i make sure to feed the muscle growth. 🙂

I eat when my body says “hungry’ . . . but I also make myself eat in the morning when I’m not necessarily hungry, otherwise the pre-lunch hunger gets crazy and I often cant get to a healthy option

My last post on honoring our hunger was actually sparked by Michelle’s Instagram post because I was astounded by people saying they felt bad for eating more on rest days and I really commend you both for listening to your bodies.. I think it’s so important for people to remember we are all individuals and even you two as twins have different needs. Everyone has different opinions but i still don’t think you should ever feel bad for being hungry. Food is fuel and we need it, even more on rest days. Our bodies need to recover. We just all need to find what works best for US.

Yes! It’s so important to just listen day to day! It can even change from morning to evening! I find the same as you…some days I’m hungry and other days I barely have an appetite!

funny how the body works sometimes, but listening is key 🙂

I try to just listen to my body, too! Although on days that I work out, I tend to eat less because working out suppresses my appetite! I am usually extra hungry on rest days, mthough, so I just go with it! It’s all about balance I think!
