We did not take a picture of everything we ate these past few days, but here are some highlights of our eats:
Our grandmother came from a family of bakers and we happily carry on that family tradition. We browswed through her recipe book and knew we had to make her pound cake in honor of her! We made her original recipe and then made a second one just using gluten-free flour instead of regular flour. It worked! These still contained all the sugar and butter that goes into pound cakes, but we used higher quality ingredients like raw cane sugar and kerrygold butter.
We snacked on lots of pound cake, plus enjoyed other favorite snacks like tahini and banana.
We enjoyed low sugar protein banana cupcakes with chocolate avocado frosting 🙂 Since the family was all together we went ahead and celebrated our birthday a little early. We told you guys we are celebrating our birthday all month!
Made sugar-free chocolate cream cake –> recipe in our cookbook – to buy check out the link in the sidebar!
Nothing beats raw vegan chocolate cake! Seriously is a top favorite of ours.
Yes, we admit we went a little over board on the sweets, but our family loves desserts! And we both were in the baking (dessert making) mood.
We did enjoy savory meals too!!
But honestly desserts were the BIG highlight 🙂
Oh wait, we spoke to soon. Sunday’s breakfast was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
We took our gluten-free pound cake and made a baked french toast kind of thing! We made the recipe up in our heads that morning. Just whisked together 7 eggs with a little cinnamon and 2 bananas. Then poured the egg banana mixture over pound cake slices. Let sit for about 15 minutes as oven heated up. Baked 350 for about 20 minutes.
Out-of-this world breakfast. Seriously we had to finish it off…we each enjoyed two platefuls of this gooey rich gluten-free pound cake baked french toast.
Need we say more?? Everyone loved it, oh yay for top-of-the-head kind of recipe creation.
With all our yummy eats we did move our body some too! Another favorite thing of ours to do.
Friday we did 30 minutes yoga from this dvd plus 5 minute plank.
Saturday we took the day off.
Sunday we did 8 minute plank workout.
Monday – day off (as Lori was traveling back up to NC)
It was a long week but we feel so blessed to have such an amazing family. We honestly enjoyed ourselves this past week being surrounded by love. Something about being home too that just makes you want to just do whatever, in a way. We know we kind of ate too many sweets and hope to get back on track here as our skin is not very happy with us. Though we still for the most part have been having success in the bathroom department, but our skin (mainly Lori’s) is breaking out bad again. Time to clean up our eats again.
Seeing you guys enjoy our cookbook means the world to us. We cannot thank you all enough for your love and support!
THANK YOU for sharing all the pictures with us! We LOVE each and every one of you.
Twins question: Any pound cake fans out there? Do you have any family recipes that you like to make? Do you tend to make some recipes on the top of your head – in the moment?
til next time,
