We are excited to get moving again, though we have enjoyed the past 3 days off from working out. We are firm believers in giving the body rest when needed. As you can tell from our last few posts we have throughly enjoyed ourselves with having our parents in town. We feel truly blessed to have such amazing parents!! Thanks mom and dad for everything!
After a perfect day Friday, we knew we had to start Saturday off right –> DONUTS… loved by everyone!
We love having guest in town because we love the chance to create yummy recipes like these donuts for everyone to enjoy.
We made two kinds of baked donuts – one as regular sized and others as mini.
And topped them with a caramel sauce and lots of CHOCOLATE! Yes recipe to come!
Bananas are the perfect on-the-go snack!
Lunch was out at the wonderful Terrace Cafe. This was our first time here and loved it.
The vibe inside was so cute and the staff was great. We see ourselves coming back here.
Bacon bloody marys for the table 😉
We both ordered the oven roasted salmon with steamed veggies! The salmon was soo good! It was perfectly cooked.
Saturday night we grilled in. We enjoyed our dinner outside on our deck.
We grilled a variety of fresh fish, along with oven roasted carrots and spiralized zucchini with red cabbage and mushrooms. Along with some avocado, plus a few cocktails.
Finished off our Saturday with the last bit of cupcakes! We each had 1 1/2 cupcakes 😉
You guys will love this recipe as it contains very low sugar! We were nervous as they did not look the way we wanted in terms of size, but they sure taste amazing. Especially with cashew frosting (cookbook recipe) and raw cookie dough!
Sunday morning we made everyone our protein english muffins along with some scrambled eggs and beef breakfast sausage sliders. We got the beef from US Wellness meats. First time having them. We admit they were different but we still enjoyed the beef sliders. Everyone loved our oven baked english muffins! Oh yay!
Enjoyed some more coffee out on the deck with our mom.
Michelle enjoying her coffee on the beautiful warm sunny day. Love our coffee talks.
Before heading to the airport we had the pleasure in having one last meal together. It was perfect! We went to The Liberty restaurant and sat outside to enjoy the nice cool sunny day.
Seriously we have been eating like Kings and Queens these past few days. Charlotte has amazing restaurants!
We enjoyed cider! They had some on tap 🙂
Sorry for the messy plates, we forget to snap a picture before we split our meals. We love getting different things and then sharing it. Anyone else do that?
Lori ordered the omelet special (smoked salmon with goat cheese and side of potatoes) and Michelle got the kobe beef brisket with coleslaw. Both dishes were amazing! We all enjoyed our meals.
Due to traveling, the parents and I ordered Carrabas take-out. I enjoyed a salad with garlic spinach and salmon with a tomato basil sauce.
And had to end the perfect weekend with a perfect warm chocolate chip cookie!
And for Lori:
Dinner was some broccoli, grilled salmon, leftover carrots with zucchini and cabbage, and some sautéed kale. Topped with olive oil.
I also enjoyed a lovely warm chocolate chip cookie to end my weekend of pure bliss.
Twins question: Do you like when your parents come to visit? Do you like eating out when guest are in town or do you like to cook?
till next time,
xoxo

Those samoa donuts sound delicious! And talking over coffee is one of my favorite things 🙂
🙂 the best
Hi! All that food looks so good! Is the cupcake recipe going to be in your next cookbook or are you going to post it. They look great! I can not eat bananas when they get brown spots…I can mash them until they are very wet and either freeze them & eat them like ice cream, or spread them on a TIU pancake. Crazy right? I’m going to do your new workout this week. Thank you again for all your hard work, I appreciate you both so much. xo
thank you Chris! yes we plan on posting that cupcake recipe here soon.
So many yummy eats! I love going to visit my parents. They only live about an hour and a half away so I get to see them often. We always make sure to visit our favorite restaurants and just enjoy each other’s company.
awesome Lindsay!! family is the best!
YUM! I can’t seem to find the original cupcake recipe. Could you link it?
Thanks
Barb we have not shared the recipe yet, we will share it soon.
Hi Ladies!
Happy Birthday!!! Those cupcakes look amazing! Is it a new recipe? Will it be in your new cookbook?
Erin

Those donuts look so good! I love the little ones.
aren’t mini’s the best hehe
Okay first of all, the donuts look amazing! Definitely anticipating the recipe, I must try them! Actually, all the food in this post looks amazing! Definitely got pretty hungry while reading. A family cook-out is always a great way to go, it lets you truly bond and enjoy the time! Love summer weather for that reason. Have a great week!
Rachel
we are hungry again from posting it too 😉

Love to take guests to a good sushi spot but when those non-sushi eaters come to town, I love to cook. And my folks are the coolest, I’m so thankful for the two of them; such a blessing in my life. Now I’m feeling inspired to make some chocolate chip cookies; thanks ladies!
Those are some great looking eats girls! I LOVE spending time with my parents, in-laws included! Everyone lives in the same city, so we are lucky to see them anytime, except when my mom and stepdad are in Arizona… then we get to visit them and get some much needed sun we still don’t have!
I just bought smaller ramekins for the English muffins, can’t wait to make more!
Bacon bloody Mary’s, oh my! Those samoas donuts also look amazing! Weekends filled with family and food are my favorite! 🙂
Yes! Love when my parents come to visit or visa versa! We share a love of great food and wine, so we always satisfy the inner foodie when together. 🙂 My mom arrives tomorrow in anticipation of little bambino #2 arriving in hopefully a week and my dad will follow shortly after. Yay! Glad that donut recipe is coming…can’t wait to try it!
what an AWESOME WEEKEND! so when is the big day? the big 30? is that what you were celebrating with the parents, right?
big day is april 26th 🙂
So happy to say that my parents live in my town and I get to enjoy them regularly, although not as often as we should given our busy lives!!! We used to love to split meals, but now with my limitations no one really wants to share with me when they can eat whatever they want!! Haha. Sounds like a wonderful day with some incredible eats!!
What a perfect weekend! Love family weekends…they truly are the best :). And I am SO excited for the samoa donut recipe!
yes there 😉
