We have done our own research and have come to these steps to help us in our journey to heal our stomach issues. Please do your own research before starting anything new. We are not really sure how long we plan to do this program. And over time we might be changing things depending on how our bodies are doing. We plan to share just about everything as we heal, so we apologize now if some things are TMI. We want to be honest as we are using our blog as our journal.
We discussed a lot of new things yesterday. Well, not actually new, but sometimes you read something once and you push it aside and then it comes back to you and you read it again and maybe one more time; then it just starts all coming together.
That is what happened to us yesterday.
After reading countless articles, getting information from friends, getting confused with some conflicting information, and going in circles a few times….all to finally lead to an ‘Ah ha” moment! Does that ever happen to YOU? When things finally start to just click! More thoughts on this at end of this post plus have another Q&A video answering more questions from you guys.
We enjoyed some yoga from Tara Stiles and this new video from Heidi Kristoffer forearm flow.
Loved both of these yoga flows! Being able to do a head stand/forearm stand is a goal of ours! Something we really hope to practice a few times a week!! They are so empowering.
Lori’s day 21 of healing recap:
I took my morning probiotic, 1 tsp fish oil, and l-glutamine and gelatin.
First meal was again 2 whole eggs (cooked with egg whites and eat egg yolks raw), with two huge handfuls of chopped kale that I saute and about 3 1/2oz steamed japanese sweet potato. Topped with 1/2 tbsp coconut oil and turmeric and cardamom.
Enjoyed my coffee talk with the sis 🙂 Plus enjoyed my last banana.
Around lunch time I made myself a nori wrap though with NO avocado. I mixed half can salmon, with sardines, mustard and 1 tbsp olive oil with fresh basil. I was so proud of how well it rolled!
I enjoyed my nori salmon sardine rolls with 1 cup steamed brussel sprouts.
Enjoyed peppermint tea. “Feel good, be good, and do good.” WISE WORDS!! That is something I strive to do.
Jax showing off his new color and my work buddy. I got this new hemp collar from Whole Foods. Jax’s other collar always gave him skin issues, so I am hoping this hemp collar doesn’t bother his skin.
Late afternoon juice snack! Always get so excited to juice!
I got limes at the store for something different and loved the lime in my juice. Michelle and I are trying to share more of what juices and/or smoothies we are enjoying for those that are interested in those recipes.
If you like beets and lime this juice is for you. So good.
Why we love limes:
- contain unique flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.
- known as a powerhouse
- antibiotic effects
- high in vitamin C
- great for immune system
- contains over 200 enzymes
- helps restore liver tissue
More health benefits of lime include scurvy, digestion, constipation, eye care, piles, peptic ulcer, respiratory disorders, gout, gums, weight loss, skin care, urinary disorders, etc. Do you like limes?
Now onto dinner.
I took my pre-dinner pills: l-glutamine, quercetin, licorice, digestive enzyme, probiotic and more gelatin.
Dinner was handful of mixed greens, sauerkraut, little bit of sliced roasted turnips, about 1 cup of yellow squash slices, about 5oz of slightly raw cod (trying to eat my fish a little more on the raw side), mustard and topped with 1 tbsp coconut oil.
Dessert was another sludge, here I did 1 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp carob and 1 tbsp chia seeds with very little water. As I like my sludge a little thick. Strange but good.
Lori: Day 21 recap –
Bathroom: yes! stool was about stool 3
Energy: very good!
Gas: just very little
Skin: nothing new to report, pimples are starting to go away on chin, no major improvements on my back
Water intake –about 9 cups (does not include juice)

Michelle’s day 21 of healing recap:

Enjoyed my last banana with my morning coffee after my workout. More thoughts on why no bananas at the end of post.
I cooked me up two eggs (enjoyed both yolks raw), 3 1/2 oz sweet potato and lots of spinach. Sprinkled in spices (turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom) and drizzled 1/2 tbsp coconut oil.
Love this combo! Although sweet potatoes are something Lori and I are going to cut back on due to the fructose. We discuss this a little in the video.
I was busy doing work and the time got away from me. I snacked on brussel sprouts that I topped with cinnamon and 1 tbsp coconut oil. Then headed to the store finally to get more food.
A very late lunch was 1 nori with a canned salmon (about 3.5 oz) some celery and carrots and 1 sardine and I mixed in some horseradish mustard. I did not wrap it well, so enjoyed it with a fork and knife.
I was so excited to finally enjoy fresh vegetable juices again!!! Love my beets!
Before dinner I was craving something warm so made some dandy tea. Remember how Lori and I were obsessed with this stuff, well we are bringing it back into out diet! Yay! Love this stuff!

Dinner I kept simple, I enjoyed oven roasted broccoli (tossed in coconut oil and spices) and pan seared mahi mahi and I drizzled my dinner in olive oil. The reason for a simple dinner was…well because I felt like it plus I had not gone to be bathroom in a few days, so kept things light.
And for a quick dessert I mixed 1 tbsp coconut oil with 1 tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp carob and some water. A nice little goo 🙂
Before bed I did take some magnesium pills and put some magnesium oil on body, as I felt I needed a little extra push in the bathroom department.

Everything that we are dealing with and why is slowing starting to make sense. Lots of new things to explore and discover, which we are excited about! Every day we feel better! Every day we are positive about things. Remember happiness closely relates to your gut!! So stay positive with your own journey.

Reason for taking a break from avocados – They were on the high list for salicylate sensitivity. Now when we browsed this site we got VERY overwhelmed because pretty much everything we eat has this in it, so we are not sure how to best approach this. When we googled salicylate foods a lot of different sites came up and they each have similar yet different list of foods. For now we are just being aware of this and trying not to stress about it.
Another thing besides taking a few days off from avocados, Lori has decided to stop taking cod liver oil/butter blend and among other foods mentioned in video. Both of us are going to take a break from bananas (well a break from most fruits). Many of you have mentioned it and we think we are finally mentally ready to give it a try. Oh bananas you will be missed.
We hope this video and our daily posts continue to help you with your health issues and know that you are not alone. We are here doing it with you. Remember to take it slow and keep track of YOUR progress so you can look back and learn what works for YOUR body as EVERYBODY is DIFFERENT. Some people can handle bananas, lots of carbs, etc and others can’t. Just focus on how you feel!
We are leaning towards the idea that our bodies RIGHT NOW (as it could change) are sensitive to insulin. This is something new for us so we are taking things slow. We are going to try to limit our intake of fruit and starchy carbs, like sweet potato and winter squashes (we might have them from time to time). Again this is OUR journey! We are not really sure what is going to happen but we are excited to see if this is our answer we have been looking for to really heal our bodies so we can start enjoying more foods again in the future. Please note: the way we are eating is not forever just while we heal!
Thanks again for your continued love and support! We love you all! Both of us are really happy with our life right now. We are finally understanding what our bodies need at the moment to make us look and feel amazing 🙂
Thanks again for your courageous efforts to find out what works for you… I have come to a very similar conclusion re: avocados, fructose and carbs … it is hard when there are so many conflicting ideas out there … which path to follow and it can be so overwhelming … and that is where you two rock … you are showing us all to honor our bodies and find out what works for us … no judgment — just exploration … I also can attest to the difficulty in giving up a few of my favourites when I have already eliminated so many other food … but for me it is a lesson in non attachment and to have faith that the end result will be so much better than anything I could have imagined!!! thank you for staying true to you!!! Love your whole healing the gut journey. I’ve just had a question with regards to Lori’s smoothies. Is it actually safe to consume 4-5 carrots at a time? Back in grade 9 I’ve had a horrible experience where I ate about a pound of carrots (I really like carrots lol) and then pretty much threw up, probably due to vitamin A overdose. I’m just wondering if you guys know anything more about this.
Nadiya I am assuming you meant to say juice, not smoothie. Both of us seem to find with carrots, but you would have to do your own experiment.
It’s confusing for sure…. Thanks for posting the video. U made a good point about whether raw vegan or paleo is the way to go…. Each sidehas its own arguments to asupport their claim. Ugh, so confusing
I saw this site and many people seem to have gotten results. Lurk around on the links….. There is a tab that describes the diet, which isn’t too far from urs. If u post on the q and a blog, the author responds to ur questions… Maybe he can offer some insight? I recnetly bought the book and will read it soon

Just curious, what is ur blood type? I ask because at first I thought the blood type theory was bunk, but Idk, maybe it has some validity…. Not that I recommend following the diet, but it would be interesting it ur blood type corresponds to the fact that u seem to be doing better with higher protein and fats. Do u mind sharing?
Stacy about 10 years ago we came across the blood type diet, for us it did not work. But we have friends that had great results from it.

Oh.My.Gosh. I had no idea that you guys were on this journey too. I have been on it for about 6 months and my head is just exploding with everything I could/should/must eliminate, and what I need to/should/perhaps add to my diet. My problem is and always has been constipation. I used to have bloating but that is much better now. I just started a pretty serious gut healing protocol and a pretty strict sugar detox (meaning, stevia and diet coke). I’ve been paleo and/or low carb for many months now and like you have read tons and tons. With every article/post/podcast/book I just get more confused- I want to scream!!!! You must feel the same! I’ll need to follow your journey!
That is one of the reasons that I havent’ blogged in forever. I feel that I am 100% changed in all of my eating from when I was blogging. Now, I don’t try to squeeze every calorie out of meals and snacks with fake foods. Now I am wary of the gums that make smoothies so great. Now I eat a ton o fat whereas before I avoided it like the plague.
You’ll LOVE bone broth (OMG the whole house smells amazing!) and you can totally hide organ meats in burgers etc. In fact I fed a heart, liver and kidney burger to my husband accidentally (I forgot to label it but remembered what it was) and he LOVED it!! 🙂
Sorry for the moby dick. Hugs to you guys. I feel your pain. I haven’t given up avocados yet. I saw on the Fodmaps site the other night that COCONUT is a fodmap (Kill me right now!!) Right now I’ve taken SOOO much out (including eggs, cocoa, caffeine, all dairy, nuts, and most fruits) that I would just have to fall on a sharp spear if I was gonna take out avocados and coconut. Can you imagine?

What about eggs? I am wondering about eggs for myself and skin issues. I get red dots around my eyes from something in my diet and not sure what. I know of other people who have skin issues and get eczema when they eat eggs. Also what have you found to the best way to consume the gelatine? Thanks so much for sharing so much with everyone 🙂
Julia yes we have read about people being sensitive to eggs. Guess try not having them for a while and see how you do.
Thank you for the video. I was curious what test you have had for the Candida? My doctor wants to test me and says that an endoscopy is the best test. I am trying to avoid this, so I would like to hear what test you had and try to get this one. Was it a blood test or stool? Did the doctor proscribe medication?
