Remember this our plan to heal our gut. Consult your doctor before beginning any program. Adjust to your own body and needs. We have done our own research and have come to these steps to help us in our journey to heal our stomach issues. Please do your own research before starting anything new. We are not really sure how long we plan to do this program. And over time we might be changing things depending on how our bodies are doing. We plan to share just about everything as we heal, so we apologize now if some things are TMI. We want to be honest as we are using our blog as our journal.
Happy Monday friends! Well, I ran Disney’s Tinker Bell Half Marathon. It was completely unplanned and very last minute. My older sister surprised me with a running bib the night before as I was eating dinner. She was already running in the half marathon with a few other friends and vendors and wanted me to join in the race. So I did. I survived 🙂
Lori and I don’t really run much anymore–something we like to do but not love to do. We do like running in races as we have done a fair share of half marathons and two full marathons. Plus we are running in the Disney Princess in February, so like I said we like to run but it does not come naturally nor is it a true passion of ours anymore. We do like the feeling at races–allthe hype and energy in the air. We probably will do some races from time to time for fun and something different (as we feel challenging the body differently is good to do).
Michelle: Ran half marathon on Sunday morning.
Lori: active off day, did painting of my fence so a great arm workout.
Michelle’s day 17 of healing recap:
Woke up early for the half marathon.
Enjoyed my gelatin coconut oil mix before leaving the hotel room.
I ran with my older sister and two other friends. We did a 4-1 and took lots of pics along the way.
I had a lot of fun with this race. One thing about Disney races, they are really fun to do.
This was my first time running the Tinker Bell half marathon. Even Tinker Bell herself was there 😉
I did it! I got my medal plus a cute bag. Had to get a picture with Pluto, right Lori? (Pluto is her favorite)
Disney I feel always does a great time with their races. I am now really excited to do the Princess with Lori.
Love the Tinker Bell medal (Lori we will have to do it next year so you can get one, haha)! I enjoyed two bananas post-race to hold me till breakfast, and a few sips of coffee.
I looked forward to food as I did not eat anything before or during the race. One reason being I ate dinner the night before at 11:30pm so still felt full from that. We got up at 3am to get ready to run and at that time food did not sound good. But I also did not know I was running till around midnight as I was getting in bed so was not prepared. I still had fun with it all and enjoyed myself.
Finally made our way back to the hotel for a nice hot breakfast. Mine of course included coffee, water and more bananas.
I enjoyed again a very similar breakfast that I have enjoyed all week here at Disney. Eggs, bacon and sausage. I miss my greens.
After showering and getting ready for the day, we did not have anything really planned, we walked around downtown Disney and finally found a place to have some food and margaritas. It was a long story to finally getting some food and drinks, I won’t bore you with the details (I mentioned more about what happened on Instagram). We did enjoy some fresh guacamole, zucchini and a good margarita for a little celebration.
I went back to the room to take a little nap before meeting up with some RUNdisney friends for drinks and appetizers.
Tuna and avocado. Soooo good.
After a little food and some wine we did a little more walking around downtown Disney as we decided on what to do for dinner.
Dinner was so good. I enjoyed my favorite….salmon. Our group ended eating at the steakhouse again that is in our hotel (the place where we ate breakfast every morning). Food is so good.
*sorry for the horrible pictures
I got a side of broccoli. Yummy. Dinner was simple yet delicious. Just want I needed to end a long few days.
Michelle Day 17 recap –
Bathroom: no success (which I know is from a late dinner and getting up early and not giving myself time in the bathroom)
Energy: good for going to bed late and waking up early
Gas: a little
Skin: no complaints
Water intake – 5-6 cups (lost count of how much)
Lori’s day 17 of healing recap:
I took my morning probiotic, 1/2 tsp cod liver oil/butter blend, and l-glutamine and gelatin.
Just like yesterday morning waffle craving I wanted them again. I felt like my coconut flour waffles that I made last Sunday, but this time made some changes.
Love the steam coming off the coffee in this picture 😉
What I did different with these waffles compared to the first time was I added in some mesquite flour and reduced the coconut flour. Plus added in one chopped piece of bacon. The waffles stuck a little to the waffle maker, but still was delicious even if it broke. Topped bacon waffles with 1 tbsp coconut oil. Delicious! This breakfast satisfied me all morning while Gary and I painted.
Finally finished staining our fence!
A very messy job. I am sooooo happy we are done with the fence. A house project that I never thought was going to end. Now I can focus again on inside house projects and eventually landscaping.
Lunch break I made myself a nori wrap served with shredded brussel sprouts with 1 tbsp coconut oil. Inside the nori wrap was sardines, half can salmon, black sea salt and lots of mustard. Loving my nori wraps!
Took Jax to a local dog park. There was another Vizsla there. A 2 year old male Vizsla who Jax him played with. It is always fun running into other Vizsla owners as we share stories.
Leaving the dog park I snacked on a banana.
Upon arriving home I was super excited to eat my red grapefruit that I got from Whole Foods. One of the best grapefruits I have enjoyed in a long time!!
Late afternoon I made Gary some gluten-free vegan lemon blueberry scones (recipe in our cookbook). One of my favorites to make. It felt good to get back in the kitchen and do some baking.
I forgot to take my pre-dinner pills as Gary mentioned we should go out to eat to celebrate finishing the fence. I quickly got ready and forgot to take pills before heading out.
Dinner was fresh guacamole as a starter. Main dish was a salmon salad. I was trying to avoid night shades but ended up eating them in the salad as Michelle and I are considering bringing them back into our diet to see how we do. We shall see.
Lori’s Day 17 recap:
Bathroom: bowel movement in the morning, stool was like a 2-3 and a little bowl movement in the evening
Energy: good, did get tired a little early in the evening
Gas: no
Skin: still dealing with the few pimples on chin, forehead, and next to nose
Water intake – 8- 9 cups water
Day 17 was a good day for us both.
We are still planning to watch our eats and stay away from certain foods at the moment. This week we hope to finally make some bone broth and maybe bring in some new foods back into diet. We are still discussing what we want to do.
Twins question: Anyone else like running in Disney races? Do you like running or do just like to run for something different like us? Any other Pluto or Tinker Bell fans?
til next time,
xoxo

I almost signed up for the Princess since a client of mine keeps asking me to do it, but alas, I did not. Now I kind of wish I had. Sounds like a great day for both of you! Congrats on the run Michelle! I hope this starts you both off for a great week!
oh Sarena that would have been awesome if you were there, next year 😉
Hope you have a great week too!
Hi Ladies,
I am loving all the great honest feedback along this journey. I am sure it can be tough being so open throughout this roller coaster time, but it has really helped me! So, thank you. I do have one question. I received the same juicer for Christmas. I eagerly began to experiment with different juice combinations from straight greens to a mix of greens and fruit to just fruit. Everytime I drink just a little juice I get a horrible reaction. I get bloated, itchy, trouble breathing, tight airways, and then constipation for a few days. It almost seems like with one sip I get an irritable bowel reaction.
I have Celiac disease and am already grain free, dairy free, and cannot digest meats or eggs. I eat very clean and tons of veggies, so I was shocked at this reaction. Have you girls every heard of this or experienced it?
I thought I would just ask 🙂
Thank you!
Sara
Sara sorry to hear this, no we have not heard about this experience before. Very interesting. Do you get the same reaction to smoothies? or just juices?
Sorry we can not be more help.
Thank you for getting back to me so soon. No, I can have smoothies and am fine. It is only when I juice. I think it is so strange and thought I would ask. I hate the idea of returning the juicer, but am not sure why my body hates the juice! I am wondering if it could be too much sugar (since juicing is basically just the sugar, vitamins, and minerals).
it is very interesting, never heard of that – we will have to do some research on that. Glad you can enjoy smoothies 🙂 xoxo
Doing a half marathon on a whim sounds like a lot of fun! Isn’t it fun that you are in the shape to do things like that, it really helps you appreciate the daily dedication to fitness, so you can take advantage of opportunities like this. I just love the look of Disney in the dark, so it’s a race I wouldn’t have wanted to miss either. 🙂
Hi ladies! I can’t believe it’s been 17 days already ! Forgive me if this has already been addressed but I’m wondering how you will know which of the items you are implementing is helping you? Or were you planning on maintaining these habits forever ? I’m just curious since I have IBS (so I personally love that you talk about the bathroom lol) but I’ve been considering doing an elemenation ‘diet’ or ‘cleanse’ such as The Conscious Cleanse or along those lines to help me know what my triggers are, anyway thanks for any response or clarification 🙂
