cupcake fun

A couple of days ago on instagram I shared some cupcake pictures…

Lori and I’s eldest sister was having a little “cupcake war” at her office. There were some rules:

– something had to start with your name – for example, my sister’s name is Carrie so we did chocolate chip cookie cupcakes

– had to have your favorite color involved – PINK over here!

– and then had to guess which cupcake went to what person

I was lucky enough to be there to help her out.

We had so much fun! And made a mess, but it was worth it.

We made two flavors – basic good old regular cupcakes with chocolate chip cookies crumbled in with pink ice cream cone on top.

I was so happy with how they turned out. It has been a long since I made and decorated cupcakes.

And the second round of cupcakes we made were gluten free!


Some of them I baked in gluten free ice cream cones as I have always wanted to do it.

I used these cones –

Doesn’t this look like soft served yogurt?

I made a big batch of maple bacon buttercream frosting…so good!

My sister really wanted to throw her office for a loop, so not only did we make them gluten free but we used bacon! She is a vegetarian so her office would never think she would make these.

Yep made cinnamon maple bacon cupcakes.

And of course I had to sample one 😉 or two

Just loved having the ice cream cone instead of using a wrapper!

Good to the very last bite!

YUM!. Worth every calorie!!

Wow – these.look.amazing! The flavor choices sound great and the presentation blew me away – way to go you guys! Love the ice cream cone idea – never would have thought of that as an alternative and edible “holder.” So…who won? Because I can’t see another cupcake topping those! 🙂

I must be one of the few people who don’t care for bacon, but I see the allure here. Mixing sweet/smooth with salty/crunchy definitely has appeal! These are so teasing…I want the recipe! 🙂

Meghanne it is a basic butter cream frosting, I did: 1 cup butter, 3 cups confectioner sugar and about 1 tbsp almond milk, and for flavoring added 1 tsp maple extract and sprinkle cinnamon

Love these! my mom made cupcake cones for one of my childhood birthday parties and everyone got to decorate their own with icing and sprinkles. I should totally do this again for my birthday 🙂
