workout and eats

by purelytwins

Both of us are feeling it today from our workout yesterday. It has been about 2 weeks since we lifted any weights, it felt great! Today we did another Tone It Up workout – their newest one – Twist and Shout. It was a shoulder burn out for sure.

We did not get our 5 minute plank workout in, but did get 2 minutes of bridge pose and our 10 pull-ups 2 setsWe can already tell that we are going to be loving the bridge pose mixed in our workouts.

And we are switching up our pull-ups using one bar and then two. Love the variety the equalizer gives us!

We tried hard today to take pictures of our eats, and think we did pretty good! It was hard to make snacks look fun. bag of carrots anyone, haha

Anyways if you follow us (Lori , Michelle) on instagram and  twitter we tend to show a lot of our eats. We both do our best to share things on our facebook page, but we tend to forget.

There are some reasons why we do not show everything we eat/drink during the day:

– people assuming we do not eat enough or that we eat too much
people judging us for what we eat and drink, and when we eat and drink them
what we eat changes daily…based upon what food we have in the house

For other food bloggers, how do you deal with showing your eats?

We do want to share more of what we eat because as we find it interesting to see what others eat, and know others do too.  Plus, we do get a lot of request for what we eat, so here is what we have had so far:

PLEASE remember our eats change daily.

Started our day with 2 cups of ACV water.

Took our supplements and cod liver oil.

Enjoyed a bowl of fresh local peaches. (unpictured)

Meal 1: vega protein powder with banana.

Meal 2: egg whites, steamed broccoli, steamed greens (collards, mustard, turnips, kale), fresh basil,  sweet potato, Kerrygold butter, & coconut oil and a cup of coffee.

Meal 3: whole eggs (duck for Lori) more steamed greens, celery, carrots, homemade sauerkraut, & coconut oil

And when we were done with this meal we realized we forgot our avocado, so enjoyed that with more carrots and sacha seeds.

Meal 4: dessert (recipe coming soon) and another small cup of coffee with some coconut creamer  (plus Michelle had a coconut biscotti while working at the bakery)

Dinner was not planned, we went to the local farmers market yesterday to get local eggs and produce, and started taking to a farmer. We decided to try some grass-fed beef and see how we do.

Meal 5: Local grass fed burger with sauteed onions and yellow squash, more butter and coconut oil, as well as another serving of cod liver oil (as some of you mentioned to us we should increase it to help with our skin)

Meal 6: Dessert! Yep having more dessert! We look forward in enjoying the last slice of our new dessert (this is a picture from last night)

Please remember everyone is different. And even though we did not mention it above, we did drink water through out the day.

What meal was the highlight of your day? What is your favorite thing you are loving at your local farmers market?

We are happy to see figs coming!!

just wondering, does identical twins have the same blood type, and are you both O blood type?
I ask because I follow the blood type diet at

Linda we do have the same type, and we heard about blood type years ago. Tried it out, but did not work for us.

Wow, can I come over to eat with you two?! I don’t show everything I eat. I don’t think it would help most people. We are all different and we all have different needs. What I eat may not be good for you. I show bits and pieces and hope people realize that they have to fit what I show into their diet in a smart way, no matter what it is.

That dessert looks delicious! I’m excited for the recipe.

I am loving everything at my local farmers market, the produce is so good right now! I’m especially loving raspberries, peaches, and beets. And watermelon of course.

Thank you for posting your eats. I’m sorry that people can be judgemental about this sort of thing. Everyone IS different, and I appreciate when others share. It gives me different ideas and enables me to expand my horizons. Quick question…. when you mention the Kerrygold and the coconut oil, I’m assuming that you are grilling/sauteeing your veggies and/or meat with that, correct? Does the coconut oil makes everything taste tropical? I’m just a little gun shy about using something other than my standard olive oil. Thanks!

Julie yes sometimes we cook using a little butter or coconut oil, but we also top the meal with more butter and oil, so they are more in the raw form. Coconut oil does give food a nice flavor!

I agree- posting eats can be a mine-field for all the reasons you mentioned. I don’t post my eats (and I only blog once a week anyway!) but i also love getting ideas from other people. Sooooooooo many great ideas/combos out there. I’m with you on the fats- I’ve never eaten so many in my life until now and I love it.

I saw Raw LouLou’s amazing before and afters and decided to do 5 min of planks this morning before I watched your videos just now. Haha I was DRENCHED! Who knew! I managed 2 minutes at a time- I guess pretty ok for someone who NEVER planks. Soooo, I WILL be doing your awesome 5×5 plank routine- I’m guessing every other day is good! Thanks for inspiring us!

Deb, we started off with 2 minute plank back in january!! And it took us about 3 months to get to 5, so don’t give up!! Glad we have inspired you too.

Yum, food looks good. Don’t worry about the judgemental types. I don’t like everything you ladies eat, that would be weird if I did and vice versa, food is a taste thing and we’re all snowflakes and have got different requirements. I am trying to relearn pullups too. I used to be able to do 5 regular with the bar, but I’m back to the start again! I have a dip station as well as the bar for working up to it. I like the idea of adding bridge to plank. I usually do a few sets of bridge squeezes at the end of my workouts but I’m going to try holding it as long as plank. I love eggs, I could eat them at every meal, especially duck eggs. I got a book about keeping ducks yesterday, can’t wait to have the space to do it!
Have a fun and fit day girls:)

you know what’s funny? I think we had the same day of eats. Except i had regular eggs, not duck eggs. I need to get those. and we had grass fed beef last night with steamed zucchini and kale. I cooked it in kerry gold and coconut butter. Yes, delish!

yum! looks like a tasty day for sure. i’m so happy more and more people are eating more fat! i seriously felt like such an odd ball for so long! i have been eating mod-high fat since 2009 and it is the reason i never feel like i’m restricting or ‘dieting!’

when will women wake up and realize that low fat diets do not keep you lean? you girls look amazing!

Melissa you have been a big inspiration for us to try more animal fats (and fats in general), so we thank you!!

adding more avocado into my diet has been the best thing ever!! seriously crave them now… my eats vary so much day to day as well. right now I’m trying to come up with creative dishes to use up what I have in my fridge and freezer, I tend to buy too much to keep up with! I’m still going strong with my healthy fats, keep at it ladies! loving it 🙂

I don’t typically share all my meals either, I think its more just annoying to remember to take so many pictures plus I do lots of tastes, bites etc throughout the day and could never snap a picture of it all. I love the sound of your dinner, thats a pretty typical meal I eat often with the grass fed beef, very satisfying and nourishing for me.

I enjoy food posts like this. I can understand why you are hesitate to share all you eat, but I find it very interesting and informative. I generally eat very clean, mostly vegetarian, but struggle to know just what is best for my body to get the leanest possible. Any advice on how to discover what works best for my body type?? I am especially interested in losing this last bit of pesky belly fat in my lower abdomen. I do HIIT style training 6 days a week, yoga on Sundays, planks daily, and just added bridge (thanks for the idea) for over two months now. Otherwise, live an active lifestyle. I used to work out for hours 6 days a week and have finally discovered this is much more effective for me. Yay! I have definitely noticed changes in my abdomen, but have not yet achieved the flat tummy I want so bad! 🙂 Any advice would be welcomed! Again, love the blog!
