Are you still not seeing the results you want from your workouts?
Are you doing too much? Or maybe you are not pushing yourself hard enough.
We talked about getting results in your workouts in this video here for you to check out too.
We want you to ask yourself this question (and answer it honestly!) “How hard are you really pushing yourself while you workout? ”
We sometimes catch ourselves not pushing ourselves that hard in our workouts. It happens. Remember it’s not about being perfect all the time but enjoying the journey.
But if you do want to see change in your body take into consideration your intensity level.
Are you getting uncomfortable? If you are pushing your limits you will see results. It is more about the quality of the time you are exercising not the quantity.
Do you feel the burn when you workout? Are you giving your workouts full attention at a good intensity? Or would you describe your exercise time more like a casual walk? We are not saying that every workout needs to be super intense, you do need balance with low impact days, but when you are doing a bit more of an intense workout give it your all.
Intensity is the reason you are not seeing results from your workouts
What we mean by intensity:
In order to get results from your workouts you have to regularly push yourself beyond your comfort zone. Time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Since you take the time to exercise and desire to have your body change to be a more fit and toned version of yourself, then use the following tips to get more out of your exercise time.
8 ways to improve your intensity in your workouts
1 – Have a strong why. Why are you really working out? What is your motivation? What is your deep reason? How do you want to feel with your workout plan? What happens to your confidence if you stick with your plan for reaching your goals? Make sure you are not only working out to lose weight or firm up your thighs but more importunely for your health and feeling good long term.
2 – Be present. When you go to workout focus all of your mental energy there! Your body can do anything; it’s the mind that sometimes needs to be retrained. As you see in our workouts we like to set an intention or say positive things during the workout. Our Purely Fit sisters hear us yelling out things all the time. This helps to be more present and be grateful for moving our body.
3 – Have a workout buddy or personal trainer. We know for us we push harder in our workouts when the other twin is there pushing the other one. we train virtually every day with our Purely Fit sisters. Knowing they are watching us pushes us even more!
4 – Drink coffee!! We know this isn’t for everyone. But having some caffeine can help give you a nice energy boost for your workout. Caffeine has been shown to help burn fat and increase your endurance! Wahoo!
5 – Have a plan. Schedule your workouts so you can get excited for them! You know what you are doing and can prepare for them so when it’s go time you can give it your best effort.
6 – Change up your routine. We do a different workout every day for a whole month. We have over 100 workouts here on the blog plus hundreds more inside Purely Fit Life. So we and our PFL sisters never get bored. This helps with avoiding plateaus and you are able to challenge the body differently every day. Click here if you want a FREE pdf of 100 home workouts. 7 – Make sure you are eating enough for your activity level and staying hydrated. We did a post and video on our activity level and how much we eat for it. Food is fuel!! Don’t be afraid to eat. Take the time to figure out how much to eat. Track your macros if you have too; this is something we encourage our clients to do. We feel it is the best way to monitor your progress. You don’t have to do it forever just to help you learn your body at the beginning.
8 – Find the right time to workout. We discussed our thoughts on this hear. We all have different lifestyles: life, family and career demands so we shouldn’t all be working out at the same time. Some of us have more energy in the morning so it makes sense to do your workout then as you feel your best. But if you are not a morning person and trying to workout first thing, but you’re barely“moving” you might as well go back to bed. Workout when it is best for you and when you have the most energy; this way you can bring the intensity.
These 8 tips should help increase your intensity so you can start to see change in your body (and mind!)
In each workout ask yourself, how hard am I really pushing?
One other important factor besides intensity to see results is consistency.
