Come into our kitchen and make 4 ingredient DONUTS.

The donuts themselves are sugar-free but we did add in chocolate chips. We know what you are probably thinking, “chocolate chips contain sugar?” Yes, we know this.  And to us that is okay. We don’t enjoy them everyday.
You can use Lily’s chocolate chips which are a bit lower in sugar.

This recipe is based off our this original 3 ingredient donut recipe.

Note: using protein powder does change the final texture a little bit in these donuts. We find them to have a dense texture and whatever protein powder you are using it will shine through. So make sure you use a protein powder you LOVE.

Do you think I could use raw sweet potato in place of the plantain?

purelytwins April 7, 2015 - 9:05 pm

Heather, you could give it a try or follow the plantain flour one and use any flour of choice

Loved the video! But why do you like plantains instead of bananas, and can they be subbed?

purelytwins April 7, 2015 - 9:06 pm

You can see why we love plantains more here http://bit.ly/1bMPzHE – plantains have more starch so the provide a different texture, you could try bananas but texture will probably be a little different

You guys ROCK! I made these yesterday and have a feeling I’m going to have to run to the grocery store again today to get more plantains. I would be sooo happy if you made more of these flourless, egg free recipes 🙂

These look great!!! Do you happen to know how many calories in one donut? Thanks for the recipe!! Love the blog 🙂

This recipe was delicious! I added lemon zest to the frosting and it turned out great.

Question: How many plantains do you use for 6 oz? I’ve made several of your recipes and I can’t seem to get the same consistency. Mine always are doughy, no matter how long I leave them in the oven. I think the problem is that I used one plantain for this recipe. Though, it still turned out DELICIOUS!!!

This recipe was awesome but I substituted the plantains for bananas and it still tasted amazing. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
