18 minute leg interval workout power of two purelytwins

Good Monday morning purely fit friends!

We both had a lovely weekend! Michelle and I got ourselves caught up on a few things and spent a lot of time outdoors (loving these sunny days). We also found a new place in town to go for our daily walks that will be safe when baby M is here as where I live now doesn’t have too many sidewalks. Gary played golf on Saturday with some friends (the first time playing golf all year). He loves playing golf but me one other hand I don’t understand the sport. Golf doesn’t really interest me. Several years ago Gary did take me out to learn how to play. I did not last long ;) It’s hard for me not to be good at something and I lack the patience for the game of golf. Maybe one day I will try it again. What about you, do you like or play golf?

One thing I am good at is finding ways to move the body. Also there is some exciting news at the end of the post!! 

Michelle and I love creating new workouts to torture you guys. Get yourself ready to feel it in your lower body with this interval workout. When designing this workout we wanted it to be a mix of our favorites – cardio and strength…the power of two!

Today’s purely training workout it’s all about burning out the legs!!

Our legs were dead by the end of this workout. We have a love/hate relationship with leg day ;)

Power of two 18 minute leg interval workout.

Workout is made up of 6 exercises.

Goal is to push yourself hard in each 50 seconds.

Equipment: free weights and/or kettlebells (can use sandbag) and need a chair

Style of workout:  18 minute interval strength cardio workout

Workout focus: Lower body – quads, butt and hamstrings

Set your Gymboss Interval Timer to 18 rounds of 10 and 50 second intervals. Rest for the 10 and work hard during the 50 seconds.  You will appreciate the breaks!

Power of two is mixing in the benefits of doing strength exercise with a cardio move to really rev up your metabolism, build strength in your lower body and burn fat.

Our purely fit sisters get ready to fine tone those legs of yours.

Keep track of how well you do in each interval so the next time you do this workout you can see your progress.  You can increase the intensity of the workout by using heavy weights and by how fast you move in each exercise. You are in control.

And this workout is pregnancy safe. Lori is in her 2nd trimester (she did this workout at 25 weeks and loved it). Keeping strong legs is so important during pregnancy. Follow along with the modifications mentioned in the video and as always listen to your body!

We suggest for different fitness levels:

B-fits (beginner peeps) - Take breaks when needed. Omit the jumping as we show in the video. Use bodyweight if just starting off or light free weights. Do just 9 rounds instead of 18.

A-fits (advanced peeps) - Limit your breaks. Use moderate-heavy weights. Go for speed and power.

FIT moms (pregnancy recommendations) – Do the modifications mentioned in the video.  Follow along with Lori.  Use light-moderate weights. Omit the jumping when it becomes too much. Slow down the pace when needed.

    Dan LOVES golf and he is really good! Like, could have played pro kind of good. Which is good and bad. I love the sport but suck. I took lessons but have only played once. Dan doesn’t have patience with me being a newbie. lol, so i have just let him do his thing and I do mine.
