skinny coconut oil

Hello friends,

How is everyone doing today? Lori is traveling with Gary and Jax down to Gary’s brothers house for the weekend and I am here editing videos. Lots of videos. Purely Fitters get ready for new fun exciting kick butt workouts ;)  Besides that we are both doing well. Getting our digestion back to normal from all the traveling. Really did a number on our stomachs. But being home has been nice to things back up and running ;)

blog review-01

We received an email from a new brand of coconut oil to give a try.

skinny coconut oil

Skinny Coconut oil.

They have an amazing story of how the two brothers got started with making their coconut oil. Also love that they promote oil pulling. We try our best to keep up with doing it, but with traveling we have been bad and stopped. We will get back into it as we loved doing it.

Of course we said yes as we LOVE our coconut oil. And we eat a lot of coconut oil daily.

Initial thoughts of the Skinny Coconut oil we received:

  • pretty bottle and packaging
  • great message
  • coconut oil looked great. Great color and texture.
  • had a very unsual funny smell and taste compared to other coconut oils we have tried

Since we were a little bewildered by the unusual smell and taste we contacted the company, and here is what they said:

That’s actually exactly how coconut oil is supposed to taste and smell. Interestingly enough we’ve discovered that the majority of other cold-pressed coconut oil comes out of the same plant in the Philippines and is actually heated up to 120 degrees. This helps to extract more oil out of the coconut when it is eventually cold-pressed.

If the oil smells like a “coconut” it has likely been “toasted,” meaning it has more than likely been heated at some point. I don’t know about you but I’ve never opened a young or mature coconut and had it smell “coconut-ty.”

In Ben Tre, Vietnam, we actually use what we call a Nutralock System™ which uses a low-friction air jack to apply, de-humidify and extract the extra virgin coconut oil at room temperature. The oil is then filtered to remove impurities down to 5 microns leaving it white as snow, smooth, and eliminating the smoky nutty smell that some coconut oils can have when they are heated. We end up using twice the coconuts as others since the oil is never heated.

Pretty interesting, huh?

perfect fit and coconut oil

So we took this bottle of coconut oil during our road trip adventure from Orlando to Washington, DC for the MCM. After a few times having it we eventually started to really enjoy this brand of coconut oil. It is different.

But good different.

So would we buy this coconut oil again? Yes. Again it took us a few times of having it before we really liked it. At first we were unsure if this coconut oil was good or not. But over time it grew on us. Not sure if it is our all time favorite or not yet. We tend to rotate our coconut oil brands.

Do we feel it is worth the price? Yes. We feel it is really good quality coconut oil.

Skinny coconut oil will definitely be added to our lists of favorite coconut oil brands. Get yourself a bottle and try it for yourself.

They have been kind enough to offer a promo code “skinnycoco” for 20% off for our readers first jar.

Wahoo! Now go get yourself some skinny coconut oil.

Twins question: Have you tried or heard of skinny coconut oil? Have you noticed your coconut oil having a smell? weird taste? do you like the flavor of coconut oil?

  2. I have read that before – that coconut oil shouldn’t taste like coconuts! (Or if it does it isn’t great quality) But this does sound like an interesting brand.

I am new to coconut oil but love, ,love, love it! I use it for all my cooking. Since I’m new to this I’ve never heard of skinny coconut oil but would give it a try. I like the taste of the coconut oil I use – can’t say it has a “taste” to it so maybe that’s why I like it :)! Thanks for the info. I am learning so much from the two of you – it’s awesome :)!!

  5. Oh interesting! I’ve seen that brand before but never knew anyone that had tried it. And that’s interesting that most coconut oils have been toasted (which is WHY they smell like coconut haha) Glad you liked it! I’ll have to give it a try.

This looks awesome! I want to try it for sure. At first I was a little taken aback, thinking that it was some ‘low cal’ coconut oil or something since it’s called ‘skinny’ and I was about to roll my eyes bit it actually looks legit and delicious :)
