Day 7 daily eats and poop talk

Remember this our plan to heal our gut. Consult your doctor before beginning any program. Adjust to your own body and needs. We have done our own research and have come to these steps to help us in our journey to heal our stomach issues. Please do your own research before starting anything new. We are not really sure how long we plan to do this program. And over time we might be changing things depending on how our bodies are doing. We plan to share just about everything as we heal, so we apologize now if somethings are TMI. We want to be honest as we are using our blog as our journal.

Nice title eh? haha

What a great way to start off this Friday with the word poop. Not a word you see very often. We are not afraid to discuss poop as you can tell. As your poop can tell you a lot about your health and what is going on. For moms out there – don’t you analyze your baby’s poop? And for dog lovers – do you analyze your dogs poop? So if we are looking at our kids or pets poop, why are we not really looking at our own? We know might me a little too much this Friday, but hopefully it gets YOU thinking of your health! Start being okay with looking at your poop and learning your body!

And promise this post is not all about poop ;)  Though, if you want to read more about stools, check this stool chart .

Moving on shall we.

michelle-plank

Thursday morning Michelle got up early to squeeze a #plankworkout in!

Way to go sis! Planks are perfect for quick, effective workout! Have you tried our new plank workout yet?

loveyourbody-toneitup-workout

I did the Tone it Up Love your Total Body Workout for #loveyourbody challenge. It was try something new Thursday, so I tried their newest full body workout. Curtesy lunge with row is probably a new favorite workout move of mine now. Plus I did a 5 minute plank hold as my warm-up! I woke up yesterday feeling great, even during this time of healing I am still feeling  strong. I haven’t noticed any loss in strength from taking so many things out of my diet since I  feel I am still getting a well-balanced diet (Michelle said she feels the same way, that her strength is still there). We shall see how our bodies continue to change over these next few days and weeks.  With the Tone it Up #loveyourbody challenge they recommend taking daily progress pictures, which Michelle and I are doing. It will be fun to be able to look back and see how far we come.

Michelle Day 7 highlights:

I am still in Orlando for the Disney marathon weekend. Yesterday was the first day of the expo.

Before leaving the house to work I took my morning supplements – probiotic, l-glutamine mixed in water, and this new fish oil pills for me to take while traveling.

michelle-thursday-breakfast

Breakfast was: a full sweet potato (that I mashed), 2 hard boiled eggs again, and  1 heaping tbsp oil. I did not have a dark leafy green made up, so I just kept this meal simple.  So similar to yesterday.

Enjoyed some coffee and it was show time.

booth

Time for the Disney Expo to start!

michelleandheather

My day was really busy so I did not get to really walk around much. But luckily a blog reader, Kristen (Hi, and look forward to seeing you again at Disney Princess race), and the beautiful Heather stopped by to say hi. Thanks girls for stopping by!!

It is always so nice to meet friends while working at these events!  And good luck to Heather and her husband as they are doing the Goofy challenge.  Good luck girl you will do great! I will be cheering for you!!!

banana-carrots-bacon-eats

My eats during the day while working at the expo. Nothing too exciting, well maybe besides the turkey bacon. I snacked on bananas, carrots and turkey bacon. I know not much, but during these events I keep things really simple. I need food that is easy to keep at the booth and won’t smell too bad (since I talk up close and personal with people all day).

First day of expo came to an end. We re-stocked the booth and headed back to my sisters house for dinner!  Just like yesterday I was hungry for food.

michellesdinner

Before my very late dinner I did remember to take all my pills.

Dinner was 1 grass-fed burger, half avocado,  sauerkraut,  a good handful or two of parsnips friends, and broccoli shallot mash (a good cup or so), all topped with 1 tbsp coconut oil.

And before bed I put magnesium oil on my body.

Michelle: Day seven recap -

Bathroom: some poop success! not huge but I will take it! I would say in between a 3 and 4 stool, really thin though. I even went a little again at night, which is a rare thing.

Energy: felt good all day like in terms of energy

Gas: a little gasy throughout the day, stomach did start hurting towards the end of the day (I know it was because my body really needs to go poo)

Skin: a few pimples but they are small

Water intake – about  9 cups almost 10 cups!! I was so proud that I drank my water!! Go me.

Lori: day seven recap -

Took my morning probiotic, 1/2 tsp fermented cod liver oil/butter blend, and l-glutamine

thursday-breakfast

First meal of the day was my sweet potato, runny egg mix. I did 2 whole eggs (left one egg yolk raw), sautéed with about 2 cups spinach/arugula mix, and 4oz steamed sweet potato. Topped with cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric, and 1 tbsp coconut oil. Very similar to most of my morning meals.

lunchtime

Around lunch time my pulp crackers were done from yesterday. I had an appetite but was not really feeling like anything. So I decided to make a simple smoothie. I did about 1 cup water, 1 banana, 1/2 cup frozen raspberries (organic), and a few romaine leaves and fresh basil. Simple and satisfying. I also snacked one a few pulp crackers!

shoeswalk

Took Jax on a walk. I wore my new Mizuno shoes, they are the Wave Rider  15. They were a (very late) wedding present from a friend. Michelle and I have so many shoes we love and Mizuno is one of them.

sillyjax

Jax enjoyed his afternoon walk. Not sure what was under the bush but he was all about it.  Love seeing him so happy and sitting in the sun, enjoying the beautiful day (and all the smells in the air).

squashshrimpsnack

Later in the afternoon I came back and enjoyed some shrimp (about 3oz) and heaping cup of sliced yellow summer squash, topped with 1 tbsp coconut oil and spices.  Yesterday I enjoyed more carbs at my lunch meal and yesterday I wanted to see how I did with more protein instead of carbs.  Did not notice much difference, I plan to keep doing little experiments like this to see what my body likes better.

thursdaysnacks

We had our first dog training appointment last night at 7pm, so a pre-training snack as more pulp crackers and a large carrot dipped in coconut oil. (please excuse the dog toys all over my kitchen floor)

jaxtraining

Jax was excited for his training. We went back to the basics with him. Gary and I’s homework is to work with Jax everyday on the come and free commands. And sit when told. We are going through a local dog training company here in Charlotte called Off Leash Dog Training. We wanted a dog training company that has worked with Vizslas before and they have. We are excited to train with professionals and work out our issues with Jax .

mahi-dinner

Getting back from training it was dinner time!

Dinner was: about 4 oz mahi mahi, handful of butter lettuce, red onions, last bit of rutabaga fries, some broccoli carrot slaw, more yellow summer squash, half avocado, and sauerkraut. I felt like a mix of different things last night. Topped my plate with some cinnamon and 1 tbsp coconut oil.

I took the night off again of my putting magnesium oil on my legs. But I did clean my back and put coconut oil on body.

Lori: Day seven recap -

Bathroom: Yes!! I must say it felt amazing to have a nice, easy bowl movement. I felt great afterwards. Since we are talking poop talk today, I would say it was like a type 4 stool yesterday!  I thought about why my bowel movement was so easy and nice. Was it from all the pulp crackers and chia seeds from yesterday (since it is mostly fiber based) or was it just from what I have been doing the past couple of days finally starting to work? Was it from the grass-fed burger? From the high-quality fats? From the extra carbs at lunch? Or did it happen from a few days ago eats?

These are some of the questions I ask myself. This is how I analyze my stools. I am still not quite sure why I had such a great bowel movement. I will continue to analyze and see what happens the next few days. I hope to pay more attention on the days I really go poop… what did I eat, how much water did I have, anything else different that I did that day, etc? I will keep you all posted on if I figure anything out ;)

Energy: felt good all day

Gas: no complaints

Skin: nothing new or different, pimples I have been dealing with are slowly going away

Water intake – about  10 cups almost 11 cups (includes smoothie)

Okay friends, did you like the stool/poop talk? Or is that too much or you don’t care? We can go back to keep it more simple if you like? Though this is our journey and we like sharing (and learning about our body and what works), we also don’t want to overdo it either. Do you analyze your stools? Do you have poop talk? I know Lindsay is not afraid!

till next time,

  1. I’m totally comfortable with the poop talk. I wasn’t always this way, but since I’ve learned so much about how informative analyzing your stool can be, I don’t care. It’s really interesting!!

  2. Ha. I love the poop talk. It’s actually something that I’ve thought about before, how poop is really taboo. We’ll talk to our girlfriends about sex etc, but we can’t talk about our bowl movements. They do say so much about our health.

Also poop has been a huge issue of mine as well. I used to be so stuffed up all time. So when I first started fixing my gut, I was really disappointed when my bowel movements didn’t become regular. But then I realized, the big difference was I didn’t feel so full/bloated all the time. Which got me thinking, do we really need to poop every day? If I don’t feel full of poop, maybe I don’t need to go?

totally agree! and very interesting about not feeling like pooing every day, something we will have to think about as well.

i am learning SO much from your journey — please keep up the journaling (not TMI!). I’ve been experimenting with some stuff myself and seeing how I feel. i’m actually eating your sardine mash with saukerat now, and i think its delicious!

  4. Chris M. says:

I like reading about it all, it’s all part of the process right? Question for you. Do you two get flu shots? I haven’t gotten one in years because of all the crap that’s in them, but someone at work is freaking me out saying that I should get one. What’s your take?

    • purelytwins says:

Thanks for the support Chris and yes it is apart of the process :)
no we do not get flu shots, to be honest we have never gotten them.
some of our friends and family do, but we don’t

You guys crack me up – love how you’re keeping this topic light. I say carry on with it, it’s spreading the word and probably helps more people than not. Best wishes for the improvements you’re looking for!

  8. amanda j says:

as a fellow gal with poop issues, i say bring on the poop talk! haha…seriously, love that more people are talking about it (openly). it’s SO important and it’s no secret that we all feel like rock stars when we have a good poop. also, i just want to thank you again for sharing your journey. it’s really motivating me to work on my own healing journey and just be more mindful of how my body feels eating certain foods, what has/has not worked for me and it’s good inspiration to try (even though it’s hard) to stay positive when it seems like i’ve been dealing with this stuff for ever (and ever!). i always try to remember that if having sluggish digestion, a little back up poo (sorry, gross talk), and totally wacky hormones is as bad as it gets, then I should still feel very lucky! And I love that poster you have on your blog that says “your body hears everything that your mind says” – I’m gonna remember that! keep up your positive spirits, ladies. we’ll get there. xoxoxo

    • purelytwins says:

thank you Amanda!! and yay for poop talk ;)
so happy to her that we are inspiring you to take a closer look at your health issues, yes feeling like a rock star after a good poo is amazing ;)
love that quote as well! its so true! keep up the good work, you will get there!
      xoxo

This is great! It’s an important indicator of health thus is perfectly beneficial to discuss!! Keep it coming! (No pun intended)

  10. Kyla says:

i really appreciate you guys being so open and honest about your bowel movements and how what you’re eating affects them. i am undergoing the same sort of “cause & effect” study with my own body and BM’s, and it’s really comforting knowing other people out there are undergoing the same process. thank you guys, you rock for being so open!

    • purelytwins says:

      thanks Kyla!!!HUGS
we try out best to be open and honest as we know it can help others and helps us when we reflect and look back to learn ourselves!

  11. Sara says:

This is great! Everyone has digestion issues so its silly for people to be embarrassed to talk about it. Have you guys tried the Squatty Potty? I saw it on Dr. Oz and then read great reviews on Amazon so I got it…let me tell you after a week of using it I am amazed at how much “easier” it makes things, lol. I have actually been having constipation issues for the past month and half and within the last week everything is getting back to normal.

  12. Dr. Oz talks poop all the time! You are in good company & people can learn from it! :)

hey girls, a trick that works for me is do not drink any thing 30 mins before or 45min-1 hr after any food>> helps with bloating!! also maybe try ( google) estroblock/estroguard … amazing product for estrogen dominance. Helps Long term users of the contraceptive pill!!!have you checked your estrogen levels? maybe do a saliva hormone profile and see where all your hormone levels are!

    much love shosh

    • purelytwins says:

thanks for the ideas, we have gotten our hormones levels checked two years ago and then again last year, and our estrogen has always been in range – it has been our progesterone and testosterone that have been off!

  14. shosh says:

A really good product that helped me when my hormones are low.. (i have very low testosterone and lowish progesterone) are organic execellense femine balance progesterone cream and for testosterone either pine pollen/ deer antler available at either longevitywarehouse.com and dragonherbs.com
