eating like a diva

This past weekend I traveled to Long Island, NY with Raw Threads for the Run like a Diva Half Marathon.

You will see a pattern with my eats, especially when traveling.

I do my best to still eat clean while on the road.

Stopped by Trader Joes to stock up on food to last us all weekend. We estimated how much food we would need and made it a goal to finish it all before we left on Sunday.

And a highlight for me was when I saw they still had FIGS!!! which Lori enjoyed one last splurge too 

After traveling all day, we decided to do work in the room and wait to build booth on Friday, plus a storm was rolling in.

Friday morning I woke up and did my little workout then fueled up with fruit and coffee.

Didn’t take us long to build the booth, so we were able to take a real lunch break before the expo opened that evening.

After a good first day, we were ready for day two on Saturday.

Day two at most expos are always more busy than day one.

And I was excited to see a vendor there giving out free coconut water!! I stocked up! LOL

It was a long day of selling and then breaking down and packing up booth. But the weather was much better than last year!

And we managed to finish all our food we bought! Mission achieved :)

Our journey home started early. There was more bananas and coffee consumed.

We arrived early for our flight so to help pass the time I did some PLANKING! Yep planking at the airport.

I managed to finish off the bag of apples on the plane ride home.

And the first thing I did when we walked home was eat one of my favs – chocolate vega protein powder

But this time added in some tahini!!! Great way to end my weeekend!

  1. just a question…not trying to be malicious or anything but do you ever try eateries in the cities you travel? that’s one of the joys of travel! there is a great app too that lets you seek out gluten free or veg friendly places in that area :) i bring some snacks for the airport but after that i just immerse myself in the foods that may not be available to me locally.

    the foods i want to eat when i get back home are the ones that i haven’t brought with me so usually a big green smoothie–that vita mix is far too heavy to bring on a trip!

      Melissa I wish I could try out cute local eateries at the cities I travel too, I usually would but when traveling with raw threads it is such a short time in these places, only sometimes I have enough time to leave the hotel to try something. also watching $ (expenses) at races so can’t always go out and usually don’t have enough time to explore :( maybe one day. xoxo

  2. I eat like a diva on the road too; it’s the only way to go! ;) It sounds like you had a great weekend in Long Island–how could you not, with a huge box of figs in your bag?! I went to TJ’s yesterday, but didn’t see figs…I might go back to make sure I didn’t miss them. They’re such a treat!

    Tahini and Vega sounds pretty dreamy. I need to try that combination. :)

    I eat a big old salad topped with lots of good things when I come home!

    In the past few months I’ve done a lot of meal prep before trips and taken various snacks, homemade granolas, bars, etc. to keep me feeling great while travelling! Stopping by grocery stores when you are travelling is also a great idea.

      I usually try to bring my own homemade snacks, but this trip I ran out of time to prep foods, it is so nice to have those when traveling :)

  4. Great job with the travel eats! I need to figure out a way to do it better when I have no access to a grocery store/fridge/place to store things. Flying in and out for day meetings is the worst on my training diet!

  5. I always find a grocery store when I get to a new city! I have to have a stocked supply of food and since we have so many food issues, we have to know we can always eat something! I normally go for a massive omelet loaded with veggies when I get home from traveling. I never seem to feel like I get enough protein and I need my fix! Looks like you had a delicious trip though!
