Hello Friends,
This morning I wanted to chat with you about the idea of getting a fig tree and starting a garden in my backyard.
I would love anyone’s thoughts about how to start a garden or getting a fig tree.
I am still in the beginning stages of learning and researching all this but wanted to get your ideas and thoughts.
I am a huge fig lover as I eat them everyday when they are in season! I can’t wait for the day to have my own fig tree!
till next time,
xoxo
Lori

MY thoughts: yes, you should plant one, and then send me some
So tasty!

you got it!
The house we are renting already had several fig trees planted so I need to do some more research myself! They are fairly mature trees so this season it has just been about picking the figs at the right time.

that is awesome
I want a fig tree too! our new neighbor has one, he has lived in the house 15+ years… it obviously takes a few years to grow and produce, but it brings fruit twice a year now!
having a garden is such an exciting thing for me, harvesting the vegetables you’ve planted and watching them grow – so awesome. just walking outside to pick something as you are cooking? very cool. at the new house, we are building raised beds for next years garden – I like the idea of a contained area (after having garden areas all over our acreage at the old house, ha!). excited for you and the garden planning – and yes, get the fig tree in the ground asap!

those are the moments I am looking forward too! yes I need look more into raised beds as well
i adore figs too! so so good but unfortunately do not live in a climate where i could successfully grow them myself. i do love having 4 seasons but sometimes i do get sick of our winter! i have been blending frozen sliced figs with romaine, hemp protein, ginger root, cinnamon & half lemon
love frozen figs in our smoothies!
I’m with Paige on the plant then send strategy. Sounds like you might have to start a fig co-op!

Hi Lori,
All I know about fig trees is that they need lots of warmth and sun. They don’t really grow in areas where there are harsh winters, so if your winters are warm you can definitely try this. I love fresh figs too, so sweet and yummy!

I can’t wait to hear what others think. I really want to start creating a garden, but I suck with all things plant related so not even sure how to start that. I’d love to grow my own avocados though!
This is a very nostalgic topic for me. My parents moved here from Italy and my grandfather brought with them a fig tree. He planted it in his backyard in Brooklyn- fig trees really don’t grow well here but somehow he’s exploded! Even today, almost 60 years later, he’s passed. No one takes care of the fig tree anymore but it still grows wild. We go to their old house a couple of a Summer to pick figs and it’s such a memory filled event. If you can make yours grow, definitely go for it. We’re actually going there on Saturday to do our last pick of the Summer! Sorry I just rambled for a year lol

I just bought figs for the very first time today. I was confused at which to buy, but they were buy one get one free so I got two different kinds! Haha

I love figs as well! I actually have some in my fridge right now waiting to be eaten. I think the idea of a fig tree is amazing though, or any fruit tree for that matter!

I have yet to try a fig! I need to as I am seeing them pop up all around the blog world these days and they look delicious! I hope to one day have a garden myself when I get settled somewhere more permanent. They seem therapeutic
