goat yogurt

Lori and I have received questions about what yogurt we eat.

First, we have shared making homemade yogurt before over on our old blog, pure2raw.com. And it is pretty to easy to make, which we have made it out of coconut meat and cashews before. Both are great!

But as I mentioned in the video, sometimes it is convenient to buy already made yogurt, and when we do we always get goat or sheep based yogurts. Occasionally coconut, but we find a lot of the coconut based yogurts still put a lot of stuff in them.

One of our favorite ways to eat yogurt is mixed with some coconut oil, sometimes add in chia seeds and/or protein powder. And sprinkled with cinnamon too!

Lately Lori and I have been enjoying this yogurt mix as a pre-workout snack!

We are careful of how much dairy we eat, as our bodies still do not digest it well in large amounts. So that is why we stick with goat or sheep yogurts.

Redwood Hill Farm is the goat yogurt we get and enjoy.

We have been enjoying this goat yogurt for years, and still love it!

And for those that are interested in sheep yogurt, this is the sheep yogurt we get when we can find it.

What are your thoughts on yogurt? Do you like to make it yourself? Do you like store bought brands?

have a great day!

Michelle

I love yogurt! I either eat plain Greek yogurt, Ontario goat yogurt or Kefir mixed with chia seeds, cinnamon and stevia – so good! The Redwood Hill farm yogurt looks great!

  2. I have such a tough time with yogurt. My partner eats greek yogurt every night, and I always want to join him, but as a vegan, that’s a no-go. Actually, as I said in my last WIAW post, I’ve been doing your coconut kefir chia pudding as a yogurt substitute a lot! I love that! : )

I’ve never made my own yogurt, but I’ve wanted to try. I usually buy Fage greek yogurt. On a totally unrelated note, I was perusing your socca recipes and wondered what brand of chickpea flour you girls use? I’d really like to try a few of your recipes, particularly the skillet socca. Thanks!

  5. I have eaten that yogurt before, but it’s just not thick enough for me. I haven’t eaten dairy in SO long but recently started doing Fage total. It’s amazing. I know you girls are intolerant though :( A little of the more digestible forms of dairy don’t bother me too much. I had to cut it all out completely when I was exclusively breastfeeding because it bothered Ella. Now, funny I have noticed a little bit of breaking out if I have too much–but it’s just such a great protein source (18 grams!) so I am sticking with it.

I want to try the Goat’s kefir though, I;ve seen it in the store but wasn’t sure if I’d like it! I too love to add chia sometimes, it’s so good!

Goat cheese is the only one I eat besides from vegan cheese, but I never tried the yoghurt. Also your combination does sound pretty yummy – I will try it with some of my homemade soy yogurt first.

I love sheep’s yogurt – our grocery store actually cares a locally made one! Perfect with sweet potato, almond butter, and cinnamon. A little maple syrup or stevia can be nice too!

I have never seen goat yogurt before. It looks and sounds delicious! I love that I’m always learning about something new with you two! :)
As a vegan I eat (and LOVE) Amande. Have you ever tried Amande? It’s cultured almond milk and its soooooo incredibly yummy!

  9. I’ve only tried goat Kefir before, not just yogurt. Sounds great though!

Girls you have to make raw kefir from raw sheep milk, it is so thick like yougurt and since it is raw not pasturized much much better for you. Sheep milk is even healthier than goat one. Have more good!!! fats and more minerals. Also kefir from real kefir grains have much more probiotics. I can not get enough of it I eat about 20 OZ everyday, stevia cinamon ceylon not cassia, vanilla thats it. My little one eat with me everyday too.

Thanks Michaela, and yes we agree sheep is more thick, but we do not always have access to sheep products. Wish we could make it ourselves, maybe one day.
