Hello friends,
Today I wanted to share the new makeup brands that I am trying to see if my skin likes them.
Plus see how well these makeups do with covering up my acne and scars.
a lovely picture haha – me in the bathroom, horrible lighting too
I dislike how I have to put so much makeup on to cover up my acne scars. Sometimes even with makeup you can still see them. I admit it is hard not to wear so much makeup for emotional reasons. I am so looking forward to the day where I can wear less makeup. I have a long road ahead of me, as my acne scars are pretty bad.
So far these are the two makeup brands I am using and liking: Jane Iredale and Vapour Organic Beauty.
I also did a video of me discussing these two products and how I am liking them.
Samples from Vapour.
Jane Iredale makeup that I use and like.
The pressed mineral powder and the Oil Control Primer (which I love). I actually wear two primers, the Jane Iredale one and another tinted one that I got from my friends hair salon.
See Michelle’s review of makeup she is using and liking.
I will continue to share products and my progress with you all. Thanks again for the continued support, it means the world to me!!
Anyone come across something that helped with acne scars? Let me know.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
xoxo
Lori

I definitely have oil control issues & love mineral makeup – way better than liquid foundation.

oh the joys of oily face haha
Have you ever tried Skin&Bones? It’s all organic and has worked wonders for me. I didn’t have an issue with scarring, but I had a lot of redness which this took care of beautifully.
Thanks, I will have to look into that.
For acne scars, I’ve tried a ton of different options. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helped me was IPL. It’s very expensive, but it’s basically free of chemicals, and it was the only thing I tried that actually stimulated healing.
thanks, never heard of it, will have to look into more.
Hello! I too struggled with acne and then the residual scarring after the break outs got under control. I tried some more natural methods but became a little impatient with the time it was taking to heal. The only thing that I’ve found for me (that has been nothing short of a miracle) is a product by iMedSpa called the iMedSpa bleaching cream. Within 3 days most of my hyperpigmentation was gone!!! They only sell their product in their El Segundo, CA store(I’m sure they could ship). I am now make-up free!!!
you are so amazing and honest! i love that quality in a blogger – i just know that you’re vulnerability is helping others!!!!
xoxox
I love Vapour Organic products so much! They make a great primer.
This isn’t natural, but Laura Gellar makes a heavy duty concealer that can basically hide anything. Most Ultas carry the line, but you can also order it online.

thanks Erin, I will look into that concealer!
I wear a lot of make up too, because I still get breakouts and I have a lot of discoloration from acne. It’s SO annoying, especially when it’s so warm out and my make up has a tendency to melt off. I’m hoping one of these days I’ll be able to get comfortable with a little less… but for now, it is what it is!

Liz I feel your pain about making melting off, I am a little embarrassed of my face by the end of the day
I have acne scarring and discoloration, as well. I’d love it if you could give a tutorial on how to cover up scars. I’m a make-up virgin, essentially, and know nothing of how to apply foundations, primers, powders, etc. I have NO experience with it and basically feel like a GUY when I try to put it on as I’m that clueless. I’d love to see a person doing it in real time who could offer techniques and motions on how to blend and such.
Hi beauties! As you know I love Vapour organics but it melted right off my oily skin. As for the Jane Iredale pure pressed base it’s really worth investing in the Handi brush and watching a tutorial on how you apply (I had to get used to brushing downwards). It also works really well following Jane Iredale’s liquid minerals with the other brush you bought for the primer!
Lately my skin has been breaking out so I’ve been using a green concealer followed by RMS concealer and it helps loads!
Either way you look gorgeous as always!!

I also have problems with acne scarring and I’ve found that using witch hazel works really well. You can get it at any pharmacy in the bandaid section. I use it as a toner day and night and it definitely diminishes dark acne scars. It’s fairly cheap and it smoothes out your skin in general. Definitely look into it!
Thanks I sue witch hazel too, for a few months now, I do notice my skin liking it but just have a lot of scars to heal up.
You should check out http://www.natureofbeauty.com/ They have a great collection of outstanding non-toxic makeup and skin care brands that actually work. I am a huge fan of RMS, Dr. Alkatis, Intelligent Nutrients, Blisoma and Vapour.
Hi! This is the first time writing a comment on your blog; I just heard about you guys and think you are a great source of inspiration! What I mainly use now for concealing under eye circles and blemishes (they never seem to go away, grrr!) or acne scars is Christopher Drummond’s Duo-Phase concealer. The coverage for the concealer is awesome; it’s nice and thick so you don’t have to use too much. I think the CD concealer line only has about three different shades, but to make the perfect color for my skin tone, I actually mix it with some of the Vapour Organic liquid foundation and it works awesomely! I get the coverage and shade that I need by combining the two. After I lock it all in with powder, it stays pretty well. If you end up trying it, hope you like it too!
Hi there,
My name is Joanna and I work for jane iredale. We recommend using the Handi Brush with the PurePressed Base as well as a Hydration Spray to help set the minerals. We would love to send you them to try and see if that makes your experience even better
. Also, if you would like to try our Disappear Concealer, that is great for acne prone skin, we would be happy to send you one of those as well. Please send me an e-mail and I will be sure to get these to you. Thanks so much for your video!!
Joanna

Hello there. I’m coming in late on the discussion but I figured it’s never too late to share one’s own experience. I too have had acne problems for years now. I don’t have too many breakouts anymore and I don’t have a lot of acne scars- but I have a lot of wrinkles, redness and brown spotting. Witch Hazel didn’t work on my face- at least not in a dramatic way. Neither have any other brands I have tried over the years (I’m 30 now). But I recently tried out Tata Harper’s organic skincare line and really was amazed at the results it has had on my face. Wrinkles and large pores are much smaller and what I love the most is my skin tone looks wonderful- I feel like I am glowing nowadays because of this alone. For me, I saw a sifinifcant change in two weeks- but again- my experience doesn’t sound as damaging as what you have experienced and as you said it could take some time to heal. Products are pricey- but unfortunately I am hooked now because I cannot ignore the great results I have experienced already. They have a sample set you can try if you want, to see if you like them too. It’s what I did. For two weeks I followed the strict regiment plus no makeup (not sure if this helped but I figured if I go into healing mode- I should go all in- it helped that I stay at home with my daughter now)- and it worked for me. Hang in there and I do hope that you eventually find something that works well with your skin and helps you feel better. Good luck!
